I saw that story and looked.
Neither of the teleprompters looked damaged.
my personal opinion.. the shooter aimed at Trumps MAGA hat when he turned his head that way, but missed because of distance.
He wanted to put a bullet hole through that MAGA hat.

Don't be surprised. I rewinded to watch the Fox News live coverage and the lady there also hedged on what happened. I mean, I had the advantage of knowing what happened later on and watched the live feed on replay, but then again, you see what happens with the sounds, Trump grabbing his neck/ear and ducking down... yeah, it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to add that particular 2+2 to get 4.
Still, I've noticed the news channels get pretty picky/choosy about the things they'll speculate on and the things they play safe. Seems weird they'd play so safe on this at first when your eyes really do tell the story.

I imagine the media is all caught off-guard by this. I mean, they had it all planned out and were ready to run with headlines of “Hurray! Dictator Trump Killed By Brave Freedom Fighter!” and when Trump survived it threw them all off their stride and they are fumbling around trying to recover.

I want the next Trump campaign ad. With Biden and his ilk saying “Trump is an existential threat to democracy..” A continuous litany of all the news casters and politicos repeating that trash and then Trump with his ear blown off raising his fist and a voice over. “We will take back our country and make America great again. I’m Donald Trump and approve this message.”
