The US says it's going to put its new long-range strike missiles, including hypersonic weapons, in Germany

The US just announced plans to place new long-range weapons in its European ally Germany in 2026.

The planned deployment of new weapons systems to Germany follows the collapse of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty and comes as NATO learns key lessons from the war in Ukraine, one being the value of ground-launched long-range strike options.

The US and Germany released a statement on Wednesday on the coming "episodic deployments of the long-range fires capabilities of its Multi-Domain Task Force in Germany in 2026, as part of planning for enduring stationing of these capabilities in the future."

The allies wrote that "these conventional long-range fires units will include SM-6, Tomahawk, and developmental hypersonic weapons, which have significantly longer range than current land-based fires in Europe."

In 2014 the US announced it would not deploy strategic missile defense in Poland, but would deploy short and medium range defense instead.

It would be Aegis ashore based on the MK-41 VLS on our bad ass DDGs.

The Russians protested loudly as the MK-41 can host a variety of missile types...and, of course, the US dismissed the complaints as there would only be SM-2/3/6 air defense deployed.

The Russians, being both suspicious and prudent started development and then deployment of an Iskander variant with range exceeding the INF limits.

In 2019 both parties abandoned the INF Treaty, first the US for the stated reason of the Iskander deployment and Russia for the stated reason it was no longer of use.

Now we see the US adding missile types to the MK-41 deployments (something that could have been done on very short notice all along). It's called the "Typhoon" system now and can Host Tomahawks, a strike version of the SM-6 and some undisclosed hypersonic missile. And all of them are nuke capable.

Which is what the Russians were griping about all along...

That’s kind of funny. We deploy Aegis system and related missiles into Poland. We said it was to stop missiles from Iran. The Russians asked to be part of the program and we gave them the finger. So when the Russians start arraying themselves against it, it’s because they are..... “suspicious”.

We need to abrogate the treaty that prevents the U.S. from militarizing space.

“What US hypersonic missiles”.

That’s my question. They’re working on them but we don’t have any yet.

Yes! Let’s just keep poking until we get war! I like it!

I still have yet to find any ukes who blame Russia in all this. They keep blaming zelensky and the west. The oldest one I ran into was my age (40s) and said it was crazy how much the west wants all his countrymen to die.

Let’s light it up!

President Trump... please beat this to death! Maybe it will ‘scare’ up a few votes for you.

Well the Pentagon is contemplating doing a paper study which could generate an interest sufficient to start an analysis of alternatives that could lead do a determination that a material solution is required which could generate a requirement from the JROC. This could then lead to a request to Congress for funding, and they could start with a competition to develop and demonstrate a prototype. Once a prototype is in hand then the formal acquisition process could start.

I think that answers your question.

Its American elites' Disney mentality. OK, maybe there are no lesbian Jedi-warriors ruling distant galaxies, but its fantastic to believe in, and you'd better not criticize our vision of reality we're trying to sell you.

Why they’re working on is Mach TB which will be a test bed for materials that might be used on a future hypersonic vehicle to be developed later.

I already bought my Potassium Iodide. Not that it will do a lot of good because a bunch of dumbasses are running the world so why stay around?
