Man accused in Maricopa tabulator key theft charged in 3 others

Walter Ringfield Jr., the 27-year-old man accused of stealing an electronic tabulator key from the Maricopa County Elections Department last month, has been charged in three other thefts within the past year.

Ringfield on Tuesday pleaded not guilty in Maricopa County Superior Court to one count of computer tampering for allegedly stealing the ballot tabulator key from Maricopa County on June 20, while he was employed as a temporary elections worker.

In the other cases, Ringfield has been indicted by a grand jury for theft and burglary, both felonies, as well as criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.

Days later, police identified Ringfield as the man who reportedly stole some challenge coins and coasters from the desk of an Arizona state senator after entering a restricted area of the Arizona Senate building on June 15.

Police said they found the challenge coins inside his residence.

While Ringfield has previously worked as a volunteer for Democratic campaigns, and filed a statement of interest to run for U.S. Senate as a Democrat last year, Maricopa County Sheriff Russ Skinner has said there is no evidence the crimes were politically motivated or that anyone else was involved.

After Ringfield was arrested for the tabulator key theft, a Phoenix Police research analyst recognized his photo in a news report as the man police were looking for in a May 20 theft from the Phoenix Art Museum.

On his Truth Social account, a social media platform owned by Trump, Ringfield has shared multiple posts from right-wing news organizations like the Gateway Pundit and Newsmax, along with posts by far-right social media personalities.

His account, filled with posts over the past two years that were chaotic and often difficult to decipher, has since been removed.

There is something weird about this entire story.

It almost seems that there was an attempt to create some type of fraud or "hanky panky" and then blame it on conservatives. I'd be interested in knowing which Arizona state Senator he stole the challenge coins from.

If they are reporting it, odds are it’s a stunt by the bad guys.

He's a Democrat taking one for the “Team.”

I have no idea, but it reminds me of a video that I saw a few years ago. A software guy (I used to be one) was in an office with 10-12 election officials and he told them he could corrupt the voting machine by inserting a thumb drive and rebooting the system. They didn't believe him. So, he had them fill out test ballots. He then rebooted the system using the thumb drive and ran the test ballots through. The resulting vote output was very, very different from the test ballots.

How do you "share" posts on Truth Social? Does the CIA "journalist" mean retruth? Talk about agenda editing.

Wanna bet this guy was a paid troll on Truth?

From Wikipedia - “A challenge coin is a small coin or medallion, bearing an organization’s insignia or emblem and carried by the organization’s members. Traditionally, they might be given to prove membership when asked and to enhance morale. They are also collected by service members and law enforcement personnel. Historically, challenge coins were presented by unit commanders in recognition of special achievement by a member of the unit. They could also be exchanged in recognition of visits to an organization.[1]”

They are exchanged like medals for awards, only they just mark the meeting, or imply some special relationship with the giver. A President might give you a challenge coin as a gift, and it serves as a sign you met the President and he thought enough of you to give it to you. People will collect them as mementos. This politician was being given them by groups he met with, like Police organizations, Military groups, and so on, in an effort to create a personal relationship. No idea why this guy would steal them other than he thought they looked cool, or he wanted to establish he was just stealing random stuff to make the fob theft look more innocent if he got caught.
