Republican Party’s new platform: A strategic move or a concession?

The Republican National Committee (RNC) recently adopted a new platform, softening its stance on abortion and same-sex marriage. This shift, announced by former President Donald Trump, predictably, has sparked a mix of reactions within the party and among its supporters.

The new platform, approved by the RNC panel, reflects Trump’s broader policy agenda and aims to reshape the party as he makes his third bid for the White House. The platform’s language on abortion now mirrors Trump’s post-Roe v. Wade stance, emphasizing that restrictions should be left to the states. This approach aligns with the Supreme Court’s decision that states have the authority to protect the rights guaranteed by the 14th Amendment.

Notably, the platform does not call for a national abortion ban, a position that some social conservatives had hoped to see. This omission raises questions about the party’s commitment to the pro-life cause and whether it represents a strategic move by Trump to broaden his appeal or a genuine shift in policy.

The updated platform also omits the traditional definition of marriage as between “one man and one woman.” This change reflects a significant departure from previous Republican platforms and suggests a more inclusive approach to same-sex marriage. However, it has left some conservative supporters feeling alienated and questioning the party’s adherence to traditional values.

Trump has signaled that his new stance is strategic, aimed at winning re-election and securing Republican majorities in the House and Senate. He has emphasized that the platform is a forward-looking agenda with promises to be swiftly fulfilled once in office.

The question remains whether this strategy will pay off or if it risks losing the support of the party’s conservative base.

As we saw jn Kansas and Ohio, even many voters who are conservative on other issues, are more liberal or libertarian on abortion.

And hardly any conservatives talk about homosexual marriage Anymore. That issue is seen as a done deal. Here too, even many who are conservative on ither issues, either don’t care about same sex marriage,or see it as politically over and done with. Some surveys of younger conservstives suggest about half of yiung conservstives are in favor of homosexual marriage.

“Trump has signaled that his new stance is strategic, aimed at winning re-election and securing Republican majorities in the House and Senate.”

Why feed gasoline to the Democrats? Conservatives have already seen how Trump governs, the question is: Do they REALLY want Trump to win, or would they prefer that Trump lose, while “Making a Statement”?

Sometimes I’m not which one of the above describes them.

I’ve already shut up a shrill Karen by pointing out to her what the GOP platform actually says. That’s what the change is intended to do, cancel out their lies. PDJT has said forcefully that he is pro-life and I believe him.

Right. Done deal like you said. Not worth the argument. More important topics we have to focus on.

It’s up to the states now to end abortion and frankly the average American is too morally corrupt to vote pro life.

Might as well give the party a chance to change back between the upcoming election and the following one. If not by then I’ll go back to hanging out with my good fellow kooks in the Constitution Party.

We’re no longer a republic.

Until we restore the republic, everything else is just a wedge Deep State will use to divide and conquer.

Literally.

Screw party.

The republic comes first.

And Trump is the only candidate running to restore our republic.

It looks as though the GOP is adapting to reality. REALITY. They are changing the things that make them lose. You can’t change anything unless you get elected. Remember, to get elected you must have votes in blue states. Which is going to be more disastrous for America? Another Joe Biden term or enduring abortion or whatever else your personal hot button issue is? The current government is like an avalanche crushing the nation.

An analogy. I have spine damage that’s preventing me from walking properly and it’s also incredibly painful. I also have an issue in my neck which leaves me with a permanent low-grade headache. The doctor asked which I’d like to address first as he can’t do both. I said, “The spine is my house on fire. The neck is a fire on the stove. Both are serious, but you have to take them in a reasonable order.”

Lesson to the masses...

(that they never seem to learn)

When wannabe-despots (Soros, Schwab, Gates, etc.) enter stage left?...

...castrate them before they can breed their organizations.

...or be prepared to face the consequences of your (in)action.
