The pro-life opposition to the new RNC platform is painfully naive

The Republican Party just revealed its new platform. The document is calculated to appeal to the needs of ordinary voters sick of cultural and economic Marxism. However, purported Evangelical Christians are suddenly frantically hostile to the RNC and to Trump. There’s something deeply weird about this position, given that it hands a win to “no limits on abortion” Democrats.

You can read the 16-page, small-font 2024 Republican platform here. However, if you don’t want to, Wayne Allyn Root summarizes the core principles in the platform under the heading “Trump chose the issues a huge majority of American voters agree on”:

• Seal the border and stop the foreign invasion (Trump already did it once before).
• Deport tens of millions of these foreign invaders, rapists, murderers, terrorists and welfare addicts out of America.
• Create prosperity for middle class families by ending inflation (Trump already did it once before).
• Slow massive out-of-control spending and debt.
• ...
• Deport pro-Hamas protestors on college campuses who preach violence, hate Jews, and chant “death to America.”
• Secure our elections with Voter ID (just like Mexico has) and proof of citizenship.
• Strengthen our military, protect Social Security and Medicare at all costs, and rebuild our cities that have been destroyed by Democrat policies.
• Unite our country.

Root is right: These are issues that appeal to most Americans, including their dislike for the Hamasniks and the alphabet-soup people taking over American education. It’s a pro-American platform that cuts across racial, geographic, and economic divides. It’s a broad-based MAGA winner, and anyone who wants to see the Democrat party harried (politically) from pillar to post should be happy with it.

The N in RNC means National. Abortion is no longer a national issue, thanks to Trump and the constitution respecting SCOTUS justices.

I have been active in the prolife movement for 30 years, and have yet to find the contribution of “evangelicals” to be useful. The old saying, “the perfect is the enemy of the good” has held sway time and time again. These people have deep personal problems that cause them to masquerade as seekers of the good; but the tell is, that their efforts blow up in their faces and make things worse. I think there is little biblical doubt that life of the flesh begins in the womb, and that the life of the soul/spirit begins at conception. So, what is the most lenient position that someone who believes that can muster? I can at a maximum see promptly reported rape or medically affirmed life of the mother after effort to deliver the baby.
My preference is neither. Neither is the most loving response
Can I support a political party that supports more than that versus a party that supports unlimited abortion? Yes. Lesser of 2 evils or something approaching that.

Happens every election. The "Not good enough for my vote" types will sit out the election to teach everyone a lesson.

So far that lesson has been Clinton, Obama and Biden. Way to go!!
