The Republican Party just revealed its new platform. The document is calculated to appeal to the needs of ordinary voters sick of cultural and economic Marxism. However, purported Evangelical Christians are suddenly frantically hostile to the RNC and to Trump. There’s something deeply weird about this position, given that it hands a win to “no limits on abortion” Democrats.
You can read the 16-page, small-font 2024 Republican platform here. However, if you don’t want to, Wayne Allyn Root summarizes the core principles in the platform under the heading “Trump chose the issues a huge majority of American voters agree on”:
Root is right: These are issues that appeal to most Americans, including their dislike for the Hamasniks and the alphabet-soup people taking over American education. It’s a pro-American platform that cuts across racial, geographic, and economic divides. It’s a broad-based MAGA winner, and anyone who wants to see the Democrat party harried (politically) from pillar to post should be happy with it.
And yet...

The N in RNC means National. Abortion is no longer a national issue, thanks to Trump and the constitution respecting SCOTUS justices.
I have been active in the prolife movement for 30 years, and have yet to find the contribution of “evangelicals” to be useful. The old saying, “the perfect is the enemy of the good” has held sway time and time again. These people have deep personal problems that cause them to masquerade as seekers of the good; but the tell is, that their efforts blow up in their faces and make things worse. The Holy Spirit doesn’t work that way. But another spirit does.
Evangelicals have been the ones leading this fight.
I think there is little biblical doubt that life of the flesh begins in the womb, and that the life of the soul/spirit begins at conception. So, what is the most lenient position that someone who believes that can muster? I can at a maximum see promptly reported rape or medically affirmed life of the mother after effort to deliver the baby.
My preference is neither. Neither is the most loving response
Can I support a political party that supports more than that versus a party that supports unlimited abortion? Yes. Lesser of 2 evils or something approaching that.
They don’t call us the stupid party for nothin’.
Like Floyd R. Turbo. The R stands for Arthur.
It is now a state issue, which is as it should be.
Calling for a national ban is the federal government overreach that we are always complaining about.
We’re no longer a republic.
Until that changes every other issue is MOOT.
Good gad, why do so many refuse to understand that?!
Yes, between curing cancer under tents.

Yep. It really is as simple as that. Spot on.
So far that lesson has been Clinton, Obama and Biden. Way to go!!
Next up free everything for everyone, no more borders, eliminating fossil fuels, suburban unmarried women like that stuff too.
Abortion is now illegal in my state thanks to Trump and republican SC members
“evangelicals have been the ones leading this fight” is true BUT they are also the most responsible party for the republicans always snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory. sad...but true. no matter what anyone believe in, you can’t IMPOSE it on those who see things differently than you do. “Your mind is free to choose what you believe but your hand isn’t free to impose it on me” applies.
Yep
Without Evangelicals we still have Roe. The battle will not be won overnight but getting Roe overturned was like the landings at Normandy. We’ve established a bridgehead and now have to exploit it.
Abortion is not a political issue It’s a moral issue. And it should be banned by the constitution
Yep....the battle is joined.
