RNC adopts Trump's 2024 platform with focus on border, economy while updating abortion stance

The Republican National Committee on Monday embraced former President Donald Trump's 2024 Republican Party election platform to back his bid to return to the White House, placing a strong emphasis on the issues of border security and inflation that voters have said are top of mind while adapting its stance on abortion for the first time in four decades to recognize the reversal of Roe v. Wade.

“Only President Trump can restore our economy, restore our Southern Border, and restore America’s standing in the world,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley and RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump said in a statement.

Trump and RNC Chairman Michael Whatley jointly announced the party's platform committee had approved a 20-plank platform leading with promises to "seal the border and stop the migrant invasion," "carry out the largest deportation operation in history," and "end inflation and make America affordable again."

"President Trump and Republicans will reverse the Democrats’ destructive Open Borders Policies that have allowed criminal gangs and Illegal Aliens from around the World to roam the United States without consequences," the platform stated. "The Republican Party is committed to sending Illegal Aliens back home and removing those who have violated our Laws."

It also includes vows that the GOP would complete the border wall, end federal funding for sanctuary cities, and prioritize "merit-based immigration."

On the economy front, the platform furthers the campaign's embrace of cryptocurrency, vowing to " defend the right to mine Bitcoin, and ensure every American has the right to self-custody of their Digital Assets, and transact free from Government Surveillance and Control." It further expressed opposition to the creation of a central bank digital currency.

The platform further called for making permanent the 2017 tax cuts and for cutting federal regulations.

Do you think elective abortion should be unlawful?

You are on a hair trigger there. Save your ammo for those that deserve it.
The OP included this sentence “The platform further called for making permanent the 2017 tax cuts and for cutting federal regulations.”

Since that was not part of the 20 points listed or in the posted article I was wondering if anyone else had seen that information elsewhere.

I went searching myself and found nothing concrete on the subject except that the House was including making those cuts permanent on the 2025 budget.

Of course

But politics and morality are two separate issues except to know-it-all, self-righteous narcissists who would never be able to accomplish anything because they could never be elected.

Did Trump get rid of Roe v Wade?

I’m guessing because the SC left it to the states, no longer federal.

That does make sense. Have spent too many decades living under the wickedness of Roe v. Wade.

It’s fine to be aggressive and confrontational but I don’t think it advances anything.
The SC says it’s a state issue. That means the states get to decide with input (pressure) from that state’s inhabitants.
What any individual thinks informs their own behavior. If it is important to you than advocate in your state and community.

The SC says it’s a state issue.

Indeed. So are elections for House of Representatives, for Senate, for Governor, and for State legislatures ... yet the national party apparatus and national and out-of-state politicians don't hesitate to stick their noses into such matters.

The Republican Party treats gun owners and pro-life people the same way the democRAT party treats blacks. They want our votes, but don't give a rip about our issues.

Ahh ... personal attacks intensified by obscenity.

How very persuasive!

Did you answer honestly regarding the acceptability of elective abortion?

If you feel that overturning Roe V Wade did not demonstrate a commitment to pro life issues I question your logic...

Abortion is the demoncrats holy grail. With it not being mentioned, it can’t be used against President Trump.

If I was governor, I would outlaw it because it’s a state issue, not a federal. The Supreme Court has already ruled on it.

I kept looking. I think it was Breitbart’s error or Brreitbart has information they weren’t sharing. The line about the tax cuts is in the Breitbart article but not in the linked campaign statement.
IMO it’s a great platform full of things I would love to see implemented.

The link is fearsome long, I made a tinyurl version https://tinyurl.com/yc7tpshr original link below:

Who said:

"I believe the exceptions. I am a person that believes, and frankly, I think it's important to believe in the exceptions," he said at the time. "Some people, you have to follow your heart. Some people don't believe in that, but I believe in the exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother. I think it's very important."

Ah, okay. I took that to mean a high priority for those first-named three, but I didn't assume the others were of little interest. I'll yield to your interpretation.
