California advances first-in-nation plan to set water budgets for cities statewide

California officials have approved a first-of-its-kind regulation that will set long-term limits on the amounts of water the state’s urban utilities can use on an annual basis.

The State Water Resources Control Board granted unanimous support Wednesday to sweeping conservation measures that are expected to generate about 500,000 acre-feet in water savings each year by 2040.

The quantity conserved is enough to quench the thirst of more than 1.4 million households on an annual basis, according to the Water Board.

The regulation requires the state’s largest suppliers to calculate individual water budgets based on residential indoor and outdoor water use, as well as on commercial, industrial and institutional landscape consumption — monitored via dedicated irrigation meters.

Not quite on the same level. The Soviets would have set restrictive water budgets for farmers too, not just urban areas.

I guess they could do like desert communities and outlaw lush, green, manicured lawns.

Within the lifetime of some current Californians, the state will move to regulate the use of TP. Somehow.

Next year they plan on passing a law that says it must rain at least every 2 weeks.

Kalifornia is a commie state, so, it's only natural that the government there institutes rationing, like in China and Cuba and N. Korea and Venezuela, and even in the USSR (now Russia). Many other blue states allow Kalifornia to set the example that they will follow.

Yep the control freaks are at it again. so when do they set the water limits and the next drought happens will there be enough water to drink and who gets first dibs on the water? Farmers stuck with dying crops ? Citizens and pets needing water to live? Wealthy folks that already own their own water and are told to share? Other states that California will steal the water from if they get there numbers wrong? What happens when they come to take your water or destroy your ability to he water if it does not meet their targets for distribution?

It’s easier than building the dams and reservoirs needed for their larger population.

If we Eliminated ALL FLUSH STYLE Toilets in Every Public Building and any Place Public Employee’s worked and Installed Portable toilets out front on the Sidewalk, we could easily SAVE 10 Times that amount.

“California agriculture uses 34 million acre-feet each year.”

I’m no expert but that agriculture gives us a lot of food.

What about residential watering and watering in freeway medians and commercial properties?

Even swimming pools in CA are becoming obsolete except for the wealthy. Thousands have back-filled their pools due to sky high expense.

Dem leaders: What do you think this is, a free country?

“What happens first in the state of California happens later everywhere in the United States.”
—Gavin Newsom reminding cheering supporters of the famous phrase as he just received notice that the recall effort failed and he was still in power.

Recall
Yes 4,894,473//// 38.12%
No 7,944,092//// 61.88%
Recall failed.
