Ukraine will be told it is currently too corrupt to join Nato, in a major blow to Volodymyr Zelensky.
The alliance will request “additional steps” from Kyiv before membership talks progress, a senior official in the US State Department said.
The position will be set out in writing in the Nato communique to be signed at the alliance’s annual summit on July 9.
Mr Zelensky, Ukraine’s president, is pushing for swift Nato membership after the war ends to protect from future invasion. It would compel the US and Europe to come to the defence of Kyiv in the event of any Russian attack.
But corruption has been a sticking point in recent talks between Nato member states over whether to offer Ukraine a concrete timetable for joining the Western military alliance.

Does that mean in order to join NATO which was founded, paid for and run by the USA, Ukraine needs to stop kicking back to the USA leaders? WTF? Just can’t bribe anyone anymore and get the required results…..

We have some Zeepers here who claim that our money going to Ukraine is well-tracked.
Considering that once we hand money to Ukraine, it is gone from our sight (thanks to the Neocons demanding no audit trail), how are we Americans supposed to process the fact that Ukraine is too corrupt for even NATO, yet not corrupt when it comes to our money.
Kind of like my dad saying (not long ago) that there’s no need for Voter ID because certain classes of people, who are criminals in every other aspect of their lives, would NEVER cheat at the voting booth, even if paid to do so. They just wouldn’t do that.

Don’t fool yourself, the Zeepers know that much, if not most, of the money going to Ukraine is, how does one say ‘diverted’. But some does make it into productive use (in their sick minds) as it results in dead Ruzzians, so the ‘good’ (in their sick minds) outweighs the bad.

In part, at least you heard that much from Putin (which is very rare for your side). Now trying listening to the rest of what he’s saying. Then you’ll have your answer as to why he’s still there.
The Russians are home according to their recent vote.
I will be the first to admit that in any kind of warfare situation, money and material are going to be misused.
There is no way around it. You can’t put a lid on all the expenditures in a war environment, simply because war is chaotic and destructive.
It is wasteful by nature.
So, some of that is to be expected in every war. But just giving money like that to people the way we have is criminal management and encourages it.
Especially giving it in that fashion to people who have a history of it, as Ukraine does.
If we had done that with great Britain in 1939, we would not expect the same level of corruption. There is always corruption, but culturally, that is not the predominant factor in 1939 England.
In 21st century Ukraine, it is.
And that’s a fact.
Close ties to the Biden crime family are not good.
Of course, being an American and living in the 21st-century United States of America, with its unparalleled levels of corruption, I have no room to lecture on that. In this case, it is my money that is being sent over there, which does give me license to be able to complain about it.

Ukraine and Zelensky corrupt? Why never.........
A couple of months ago, our incompetent Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, declared that Ukraine membership in NATO was inevitable, thereby enraging Putin even further and threatening to escalate the war. Apparently, NATO officials have decided that they don’t want this escalation, and are recognizing that they are losing their war against Russia.
But not too corrupt to be given hundreds of billions of dollars?
The Zeepers here will say that Russia is even more corrupt than the Ukraine.
