“It was an eye opener to read what Civil War soldiers endured not just from battle but from the elements, flooding, heat and insects. Afterwards I fully understood mortality rates from disease over wounds.”

I was reading a book once that took place in one of the infirmaries in the civil war. It’s amazing anybody survived the medical care, especially limb removal.

Hi CB....glad you didn’t get those drops. So much easier.

So, I wondered if pollyshy was actually in Australia, or she was living there vicariously through the novels she’s reading. I thought the latter, but now I’m not sure lol.

Oh, I don’t know if there’s been any discussion about Ozempic on our thread, but I’m hearing horror stories about it lately. I just listened to this - Ozempic discussion starts around 16:00. Yikes!

Just watching those peaceful lefties going nuts around the dnc....I guess the joy hasn’t quite hit them yet.

I think it's time for us to have a high tea again. (I wonder why it is called that)

Well, years ago I heard that the Queen Mother had a gin and tonic every afternoon. I guess that could have something to do with tea time lol.

That looks lovely!

Seriously, I don’t know why they don’t just taze all of these protesters if they get out of hand. I’d love to see that.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

The Democrats accidentally put forward the Biden Platform. His name is mentioned 21 times, and yet they threw him out of Office, it was a vicious COUP. Such a foolish thing to miss, but the Fake News Media refuses to cover it. If I had made such a mistake, it would be the biggest story in America!

My sister and her husband lived in Australia for 13 yrs. They built their house there and started a Palm
tree farm. Sold them at the market. Sold their place and moved to Thailand. Was there for some time when he had a heart attack and died. She sold and came back to Idaho where her daughter lives.

Thank you Cotton.

The term "high tea" comes from the way the meal was traditionally served, at high tables with high-backed chairs. The tables were higher than the coffee or tea tables where people would have lighter snacks. The term may have also originated during the Industrial Revolution when workers would return home from work and have a more substantial meal than afternoon tea, which was sometimes called "low tea".

High tea is a hearty meal that's similar to a light supper and is often eaten in the early evening. It typically includes tea, meat or fish, bread, vegetables, and baked goods. Some examples of high tea foods include Cornish pasties, shepherd's pie, cheese on toast, Welsh rarebit, English muffins, and pies. The tea is usually strong and black, but it can be based on preference.

Today, high tea can be more elaborate, especially when served in a hotel or restaurant. In the UK, many families still use the term "tea" to refer to their evening meal, dinner, or supper, even though the "high" tradition has faded over time. In other parts of the world, the afternoon tea menu is often referred to as high tea.

I don’t think so, Spunky. I was watching the rioters for awhile - the crowd looks sparse inside the convention.

It is a long episode. Pretty interesting, though. I will have to listen to it again, as I only absorb so much the first time around.

Good info on high tea! Sounds better than my gin and tonic theory lol.

“Sounds better than my gin and tonic theory lol.”

Yes tea is much better.

I don’t know why I do it but about once or twice a year I buy one of those 4 pks of wine. I remembered years ago I liked Lambrusco so I bought one the other day. Everytime I drink one now I feel all flushed and miserable.

That is how I am feeling now. :-(

What an interesting life your sister has had.

Thanks for the high tea definition. I knew you would know.

Our Internet is out, until about midnight. I’m on my cell now, running down the battery apparently.
