Berry Tiramisu Trifle
This Berry Tiramisu Trifle is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, incorporating fresh berries for a summery flavor. It’s a no-bake recipe, perfect for gatherings or a special treat.
Ingredients:
24 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
1 cup strong coffee, cooled
1/4 cup coffee liqueur (like Kahlua or Tia Maria) (optional)
2 (8-ounce) containers mascarpone cheese, at room temperature
1 cup powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries), divided
Instructions:
Prep the berries: Wash and dry the berries. Set aside a few whole berries for garnish. Slice or halve the rest.
Combine coffee and liqueur: In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur (if using).
Make the mascarpone cream: In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
Whip the cream: In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until combined.
Assemble the trifle:
Dip half of the ladyfingers in the coffee mixture for a few seconds on each side.
Arrange them in a single layer on the bottom of a trifle dish.
Top with half of the mascarpone cream and half of the sliced berries.
Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of berries and a few whole berries for garnish.
Chill: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Tips:
Use strong coffee for the best flavor.
If you don’t have coffee liqueur, you can substitute it with another liqueur or simply omit it.
For a more intense berry flavor, you can use all raspberries or strawberries.
If the ladyfingers seem too dry after dipping them in the coffee, you can brush them with a little extra coffee mixture before layering them.
Get creative with the presentation! You can use a clear glass trifle dish or individual serving glasses.
