Campaign desperately tries to tamp down Democrats’ panic as calls for Biden to step aside grow

The panic inside the Democratic Party is growing.

Democratic National Committee members lashed out at the campaign for gaslighting them about President Biden’s health, while the campaign team accused nervous Democrats of “bedwetting” over the debate catastrophe even as another major newspaper called for President Biden to quit his reelection bid.

Biden allies rushed over the weekend to ease concerns about the 81-year-old president’s faltering campaign by showing unwavering public support, even as many grumbled that the campaign wasn’t taking seriously enough the fallout from his abysmal debate performance.

Mr. Biden stayed out of sight at Camp David as his surrogates flocked to the Sunday talk shows. A report that Mr. Biden and his family spent the day discussing the future of his campaign was immediately dismissed by White House officials as “not accurate.”

Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison and Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez held a Saturday afternoon call to reassure some of the party’s most influential members that Mr. Biden was here to stay and up to the task of running for a second term.

Some on the call were frustrated that the pair did not take questions and offered a rosy assessment of Mr. Biden’s chances in November against former President Donald Trump, leaving them feeling like they were being “gaslit.”

“There were a number of things that could have been said in addressing the situation. But we didn’t get that. We were being gaslit,” Colorado DNC member Joe Salazar told the Associated Press.

Other members on the call also described the call as “feeling gaslit,” the term for being manipulated or misled into not believing what one plainly sees or feels.

The Biden campaign also pushed back Sunday, sending a fundraising email accusing some in the party of “bedwetting.”

Not sure I get all this hysteria.

All they have to do is get their lackey in New York to throw Trump in jail on the 11th, and Biden runs unopposed.

Just a reminder, it’s not just FJB’s cognitive disability for not re-electing him, but the corruption and policies. What was clearly on display Thursday night, was the proof that FJB isn’t running anything.

But somebody. Is . . .

A little history for you:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_V._Debs

“On June 16, 1918, Debs made a speech in Canton, Ohio, urging resistance to the military draft. He was arrested on June 30 and charged with ten counts of sedition”

“He was found guilty on September 12”

“Debs was sentenced on September 18, 1918, to ten years in prison and was also disenfranchised for life.”

“Debs went to prison on April 13, 1919”

“Debs ran for president in the 1920 election while imprisoned in the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary. He received 914,191[55] votes (3.4 percent)”

Btw—he was on the ballot in all states.

So—if President Trump is in prison he can still run for President and be on the ballot in every state.

Will the judge order Trump to prison and be taken into custody on July 11th? Time will tell.

2024. Has become a very bizarre political year.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahaha! ! ! ! ! ! !

Now THAT I did not know.

Wouldn't that be a smack up side Biden's head - Trump wins the election from jail.

Umm... then what?

They might as well run Biden and let him lose. Then blame Trump on the mess they made of everything.

I'm very nervous. I don't like this. Democrats are up to something. I think they have a squeaky-clean young guy that they have already decided on and are keeping well hidden, and they are coordinating with the press on how dire it's looking for Biden and the current slather of replacements like Newsom and Whitmer. So when their real replacement pick is revealed, he'll be the Wonderkid that saved the party.

I think it's going to be KY Governor Andy Beshear, who has won it twice in a ruby red state. Young and attractive to female swing voters. He would be portrayed as a centrist. And there won't be enough time for the voters to truly know him. It will be all favorable press coverage. I can even see The Turtle saying nice things about him.

I don’t think we will be seeing any more public appearances of Mr.Hairy Legs. (Ever) When the stink starts drawing flies, it’s time to put it on ice, bury it, or put it to the bottom of the sea.

Then—President Trump is sworn in as President in his jail cell and his first act as President is to pardon himself.

He walks out of jail to cheering prisoners and guards—just another President Trump rally.

:-)

“Dr. Jill” will keep him on the job for the family legal perks. Hunter, Joe, the whole damned family needs the power of the office to stay out of jail.

I’m not certain he can pardon himself from a state charge.

Remember 81 million votes. No way this party is going quietly into the night. Joehole is leaving the campaign, he just does not know it. Remember this too, with the world in flames and the country in decline, bidet and his entire party was only concerned with winning an election, not what was best for the country.
Add in the worthless media.

The way to get through this for the time being is to juice the guy up and put him and a teleprompter out there in front of a friendly audience for a 10 minute stump speech at noon every day just before his bed time like the one he gave in Raleigh the day after the debacle. Just enough to shut up the nervous Dem party elite and their allied media I don’t want him pulled. He is perfect campaign fodder for Trump. Hang in there, Joe

The anger among Democrats was made evident on Sunday when John Morgan, a top Democratic donor, publicly blamed the advisers who managed the president’s debate preparations, citing by name Ron Klain, Anita Dunn and Dunn’s husband, Bob Bauer.

“Biden has for too long been fooled by the value of Anita Dunn and her husband,” Mr. Morgan wrote on social media. “They need to go … TODAY. The grifting is gross. It was political malpractice.”

He elaborated in a subsequent interview. “It would be like if you took a prizefighter who was going to have a title fight and put him in a sauna for 15 hours then said, ‘Go fight,’” he said. “I believe that the debate is solely on Ron Klain, Bob Bauer and Anita Dunn.”

Members of Mr. Biden’s family were likewise said to be focused on the president’s staff, including Ms. Dunn, a White House senior adviser, and her husband, Mr. Bauer, the president’s personal attorney, who played Mr. Trump during debate rehearsals.

They were asking why Mr. Klain, the former White House chief of staff who ran the preparations, would in their view allow him to be overloaded with statistics, and they were angry that Mr. Biden, who arrived for the debate in Atlanta with a summer tan, was made up to look pale and pallid, said one of the people, who has been in touch with several members of the family.

But the person said that the president himself was not among those who were upset and that he still trusted Mr. Klain, Ms. Dunn, Mr. Bauer and the others. Other Democrats said it was unfair to blame the staff for the president’s own failings, dismissing what they called typical second-guessing and scapegoating.

A couple of Democrats pointed out that family members did not attend the preparation sessions.

In the days since the debate, Mr. Biden has privately and publicly acknowledged that he did not do well, and he has been calling trusted advisers like Mr. Klain; Ted Kaufman, his longtime aide and friend; and Jon Meacham, the historian and informal adviser; as well as key donors and party figures.
