First, as I understand it Congress exempted themselves from any inside trading laws (among other laws they expect us to obey).
Second, President Trump after becoming President decided to take the high road and not to go after his political opponents for the sake of our nation. Was this a good decision or a bad one, only history will know for sure.
The Democrats however decided to go down the low road and used every resource of our government to try and silent the one political opponent that could bring down their entire house of cards.
I would suggest that if they had not done so President Trump would not be in the strong position he is in today.
Pelosi has more to worry about then inside trading, I would suggest she has done far worse (here is looking at you China).
