A bill being considered in New York would, as of Jan. 1, 2025, prohibit the sale of gasoline-powered leaf blowers and lawn mowers in the state, according to a May 23 report from WYRK. Legislation regarding gas-powered equipment bans was introduced back in 2021.
The bill (Assembly Bill A705) is currently being considered by a committee assembly.

30 years ago, even more so than California, New York could have Republican governors and Senators, and typically, the GOP controlled the State Senate while the Democrats controlled the Assembly. While all were different shades of “NY progressive” it still kept a check on craziness

Hey, I have a great idea. How about passing a law that requires all Government Employees to use public transportation when traveling and pay for their own gas and electricity like us common folks do?

Actually, I think electric is better for most people (those not in the gardening business or owning large land tracks), as they are far easier to ‘start up’ and the batteries are sufficient for most people. That’s for the smaller stuff. For lawn mowers, batteries are seem only practical for relatively small yards, otherwise a lot of battery capacity is needed.

Nothing more maddening than being at home on a gorgeous late summer and autumn weekend, opening the windows and being assaulted by the infernal noise from multiple leaf blowers.
Most homeowners seem to place little value on their free time which is why they purchase power tools based on price. They will spend $100 on a cheap leaf blower and then spend 4 hours trying to blow leaves with it.
I could almost support banning gas powered leaf blowers below a certain capacity. Let the pro's and intelligent homeowners continue to use higher capacity gas leaf blowers but shift the cheap ones that cause most of the noise problems to electric.

I have a backpack leaf blower and a big rotary leaf blower you push from behind....i continue to use the backpack leaf blower over the summer- F them...

The dumb ass on the city council of Burlingame,ca put out the order for no gas blowers from July 1. Good thing we don’t get snow.
Weak. Why not just push for the outlawing of gas-powered leaf blowers, mowers, and edgers? The people there deserve a big amount of hurt for their voting preferences.

I said for years when we lived in CA, if we sent all the gas powered tools across the border into Mexico, the illegals would go with them..Instead, we left.
