A bill being considered in New York would, as of Jan. 1, 2025, prohibit the sale of gasoline-powered leaf blowers and lawn mowers in the state, according to a May 23 report from WYRK. Legislation regarding gas-powered equipment bans was introduced back in 2021.
The bill (Assembly Bill A705) is currently being considered by a committee assembly.

“NY continues to drive business out of the state.”
If you lived in a nice apartment complex you might think differently.
Great news! Banish those effing things.
TV ads should say your freedoms are being taken away and it will be out of control if the Dems win it all.
You want to buy a gas powered car? A gas stove? Leaf blower?
Soon: own an individual house.
Say goodbye to it all.

I agree with protecting ALL freedoms, other than the ‘freedom’ to wake up residents at 8 AM on Tuesdays.
We OWN apartments. Virtually impossible to get the yardwork done with those midget lithium battery powered lawn equipment. I’ll keep my Ferris zero turn, my echo leaf blower (which I seldom use) and my wheeled gas powered string trimmer thank you very much.
See my post #6
Just drive over to PA, or OH and get one. or order one on Amazon. F NYS.
Bought all gas powered stuff in the last 5 years. Chain saw, Weed whacker, Power washer, Leaf blower/vacuum, and mower. I don’t live in NY. shame. spent good times there with cousins.
Oh, c’mon. Who doesn’t like a serenade on the Mexican bagpipes early in the morning?
No problem with getting rid of the gas-powered leaf blowers but getting across the border will still be easy enough. I hate those illegals making all that noise to push one or two leaves across a yard or off of a trail.
If you’re just waking up at 8 am on Tuesdays it should be because you’re working B shift. B and C shift workers should be wearing ear plugs. A shift workers get up at between 5-6 a.m.
I’m in my mid sixties and start working at 6 am on weekdays and every weekend on 7 am because we are self employed.
Yep. From my cold, dead hands (which includes my power washer)
I never said the alternatives are friendly for full-time (or near full time) gardeners, as they are very costly at a minimum, and I know that cost will be passed on to those who live there. But you’ll find a lot of public support for that specific ban (leaf blowers), even from many conservatives. Now start going after other equipment, then things change.

“If you’re just waking up at 8 am on Tuesdays...”
Actually, in my case, it’s my wife (I’m straight, sorry feds). And she is NOT just waking up at 8 AM on Tuesdays, she is SLEEPING at that time, until the symphony starts. In my case I’m wired to get up around 6 AM every morning, and can remember that back to grade school.
We used to watch the gardeners at our work. After a rain, the leaves would adhere tightly to the sidewalk. The gardeners would blow the leaf for a minute or two until it dried up enough to blow away. Heaven forbid they would ever bend down to pick up the stuck leaf.
It was the silliest thing ever to watch.
Without question, this will be a serious blow against the Hispanic Bag Pipers. Two weeks without any lawn care, and this bullshit idea goes away.
We always get a couple weeks in the fall and again in the spring where one neighbor will be running his snow blower moving the early or late snowfall and another neighbor will be running his leaf-blower doing yard cleanup. It’s the silliest thing ever.
What joy! We get dual racket.

“It’s time to close up shop at the EPA, and all other federal agencies created during the late ‘60s and ‘70s in large part to placate rioting hippies.”
I’ll support that on ONE CONDITION - that they first push through a requirement that all leafblowers must have damn-good MUFFLERS on them. Then yes, send their workers off to Red States and make them suffer there.
