Glad the child is out of the car and safe. Carjackers don’t always let people safely out of the car.

A story I vividly remember was a mother being carjacked who begged and screamed to be allowed to get her little daughter out of the car seat in back.
The perp said no. She leaped at the car as he sped away. She gripped it outside and he deliberately found places to rub against with the car, shredding and tearing at her body as she didn’t let go. Finally she was jarred loose and fell. Later the child was found safe still in the abandoned car but the mother was in critical condition but later recovered.
Counts as one crime, carjacking. Statistics, you know.

A similar carjacking had the mother unable to do anything. The perp later opened the car and tossed the child seat and child onto the shoulder weeds and took off again. Child was okay thanks to the seat.
When things get really bad in the run up to the election, as I believe they will, there are a lot of side battles that will seem inexplicable to the news reporters and to later historians.
I lived through the 1967 Detroit Riots as a college college student. My grocery store was next door to my crumby apartment and was totally burned out and was the most often used file photo on TV and magazine for an example. Metal electrical cables hanging from the ceiling, everything charred and blackened. Just walls and ceiling and burned shelves.
I even had a several hours college class project worked on with three buddies at a house apartment in the same block at the Algiers Motel, made famous in The Algiers Motel Incident by John Hersey.
