Putin Urged To Reinstate Death Penalty By Russia's Chief Investigator

The head of Russia's top criminal investigation agency on Friday urged President Vladimir Putin to lift the country's moratorium on the death penalty.

Russia stopped carrying out capital punishment in 1996 as a prerequisite for joining the Council of Europe, the rights group it was expelled from in 2022 after launching its offensive in Ukraine.

A growing number of Putin's allies and lawmakers have since called for the death penalty to be brought back, seeking the sentence for the suspects in the terror attack at a concert hall near Moscow in March in which more than 140 people were killed.

"We should consider lifting the moratorium on the death penalty," the head of Russia's Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, told a legal forum in Saint Petersburg on Friday.

"In some cases it should be applied, and in these cases I am in favour of the death penalty," he said.

There is only an “unofficial” death penalty in Russia. It mostly involves falling out of windows...

Easier than pretending those people are killed in random private jet crashes.

Your Biden made a fool of himself last night. Are you still comfortable supporting his foreign policy?

In Solzhenitzyn’s masterpiece”THE FIRST CIRCLE,” there is a chapter “Please, Comrade Stalin, Give Us the Death Penalty.” (as I recall). Vladolf Putler will surely follow “The Boss’s” model and give his people what they beg. Already they are killing deserters from battles using “punishment troops,” often Chechens by the way. The Ukrainians have begun targeting these punishment troops.

Is that the same "Stalin" that the New York Times, it's Editorial Board, and Walter Duranty won the Pulitzer Prize for lauding in non fiction articles for Decades?

Is that the same "Solzhenitzyn" that wrote wonderful works of fiction?

As long as there are tall hotels with a 10th story balcony in Moscow, Putin doesn’t need the death penalty.

Not my Biden. I support Ukraine, not him. He has not done nearly enough to help them against the orc army and his weakness was what caused the Putin the Butcher to invade, just as Trump said last night.

You really don’t understand very much, do you Tater?

Take a deep breath, I asked you a simple question. In light of last night’s embarrassment, do you still trust Biden’s Ukraine policy?

Biden f**’s up everything he touches, including support for Ukraine. Remember it was Trump who first sent lethal aid to Ukraine, and had he not been robbed of his second term, Ukraine would’ve been so well armed and prepared, Vlad the Limpwristed would’ve never invaded. So no, I think Joe has screwed this up, and a real President would have the whole rest of the world pumping weapons into Ukraine so we would not have to to do it.

Yep, the very important Javelins primarily, and the money for that joint training center in Ukraine where Trump had the American troops, as that 2019 article mentions.

It sure beat blankets.
