McDonald’s declared that its experiment with plant-based burgers was a disaster.
Joe Erlinger, who heads US operations for the Chicago-based fast food giant, told a business conference that the company discontinued the pilot program after customers in San Francisco and Dallas-Fort Worth panned the McPlant.
The McPlant “was not successful in either market,” Erlinger told the Wall Street Journal’s Global Fast Food Forum in Chicago on Wednesday.
“I don’t think the US consumer is coming to McDonald’s or looking for McPlant or other plant-based proteins from McDonald’s now.”
The executive added that McDonald’s won’t be reintroducing salads to its menu either, since the demand for leafy greens isn’t there.

About 30 years ago Burger King was offering a “Veggie Burger” for a little while.
I tried one.

YUCK! I haven’t seen this at McDonalds. I stopped gooing to Panda Express when they start pushing fake “meat”.
McFail

I don’t do fast food anymore, too much risk of contamination, on purpose or from ignorance.
The taste wasn’t bad, but the texture was.
Once you take a bite, it basically falls apart in the mouth.
Basically I won’t eat at restaurants that serve fake meat. I don’t trust them to keep the fake meat isolated.
McWorm?
Remember when it was rumored that McDs was using earthworms in it’s hamburgers? Urban legend didn’t last long when it was quickly pointed out that a pound of earthworms costs way more than a pound of hamburger.
Reminds me of my public high school cafeteria days. Whatever it was it was not cow.
New Coke...
Local salvage grocery stores are loaded with ‘plant based this’ and ‘plant based that’...good to see these enterprises going ‘t*ts up’ everywhere you look.
We called them ‘toadburgers’ when I was younger.
