A mom has claimed she was booted off a United Airlines flight with her distressed 16-month-old son over using the wrong pronoun for a flight attendant.
Jenna Longoria was expecting to fly to Austin from San Francisco on Wednesday with her mom and son when United stopped them from traveling.
She alleges she was denied boarding after an 'accidental' mix-up when addressing a United staff member, who she says refused to accept her apology.
The frantic mom also alleged the flight had taken off with her luggage containing her and her mom's medication still on board, leaving at risk of becoming 'very sick' while stranded.
'They're saying it's a hate crime that I did and that I might not even be able to ever fly United again,' she fumed in a clip posted on Instagram.
In the clip, she says while boarding the flight she mis-gendered an employee.
'I will tell you what happened now, I got one of the flight attendant's pronouns wrong and the other flight attendant didn't like it,' Longoria explained.
'I said, "I'm really sorry, I'm not very versed in pronouns," I was holding my son, he was having a temper tantrum, I had the car seat on my back.
'I wasn't really focusing on anything except getting my son's car seat on the plane and getting him comfortable.'

The airline has formally claimed in a statement that Longoria was booted from the flight for having too many carry-on items. What!? Not only does this narrative contradict what the official said, but it also contradicts the fact that Longoria eventually got home by just buying some American Airlines tickets.
Thanks to United’s response, it’s now also facing accusations of being a lying airline.

Because....guess what? A pronoun is used in lieu of proper names. Just use their name or "hey YOU" works too.
A funny thing like that happened to one of my cousins in the early late 60’s-early 1970’s! He was working as a bellhop (correct spelling?) in a hotel. This was when men were starting to wear longer hair, and women were wearing pants/pantsuits more often. He saw what looked to him to be a tall woman, from the back, so he couldn’t tell. Anyway, he approached the person, and said something like: “Can I help you ma’am?”, and the person turned around and was revealed to be a man! He said to my cousin: “What do you mean, ma’am?”! My poor cousin was embarrassed and apologized immediately! This guy was taller than he (my cousin) was, and he was afraid he would sock him one! I guess the tall guy took the apology, and I don’t believe anything else happened.
