DENVER — Police in Denver are investigating a shooting involving officers in the downtown area that left one woman dead Sunday.
It happened at 11:44 a.m. on Broadway near the Lawrence Street intersection.
Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said officers responded to the area on a report that a woman holding a knife was in the intersection.
When officers arrived, they confronted the woman and gave her commands to drop the knife. However, Thomas said the woman refused and began advancing toward the officers.

It’s a sad state of affairs when several cops can’t disarm a woman with a knife. Didn’t they have a taser?
I guess nobody was carrying a Taser or anything less lethal than magazines of 9mm.
I think I read that Miguel was tazed twice before the fatal shot.
Three officers opened fire and struck the woman after at least two tasing attempts failed to stop the woman from advancing, according to Thomas.

I remember police from fifty years ago fearing a person with a knife, The 21 foot rule and because, in their words,...”The knife is always loaded!”

Given the state of our country right now, meaning police in some areas are quitting by the hundreds, other departments are understaffed, moral in the ranks is down, cops have to operate alone due to understaffing, recruiting new quality applicants to be cops is way down, Seattle is hiring uneducated migrants as cops etc etc. I think it should be an axiom that if you come at a cop or cops with a deadly weapon that they shoot you dead.....period.....no questions asked...no temporary suspension..........just go to lunch and back to work!

The only way to “disarm” someone with a knife is two shots center mass, and one more to the forehead if they don’t drop from the double-tap.
Messing around with someone holding a knife is a great way to wind up dead.
Yes, they did shoot her with tazers and they said “they seemed to not have the desired effect.” So the officers mag-dumped her.
