Don’t fall for Putin’s Crimea cries — he’s coldly preying on Biden’s escalation fears
New York Post ^ | June 24, 2024 | Mark Toth and Jonathan Sweet

How many Ukrainian civilians have been killed by missiles, drones and artillery fired from the Crimean peninsula? How many of those munitions were made in Iran or North Korea?

It is highly doubtful that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would use its limited ATACMS munitions to attack non-military targets — particularly as at no point during the war up to now has Ukraine intentionally targeted Russian civilians.

Rather, it is more likely that the Russian beachgoers were killed not by ATACMS or other US-made weapons, but by Russian military 9M330 air defense missiles fired by Moscow’s TOR-M2 anti-aircraft platform.

Early open-source images of the weapons’ remains — as yet unconfirmed — appear to suggest this was the case in Sevastopol.

Friendly fire happens in combat, and the Russian military has a track record of inadvertently striking their own targets, even shooting down their own aircraft — as in April, for example, when Putin’s air force released a guided medium-range X-59 tactical missile over Belgorod, Russia.

According to Russian sources on Telegram, 21 known such friendly fire incidents were tallied in March and April alone.

Putin knows he desperately needs to change the equation, and change it fast. His recent travels to North Korea and Vietnam, creating additional distractions in South Korea and the Sea of Japan for Washington, was one way.

Blaming the United States for the blasts in Sevastopol is just the latest.

Nuclear bluffs, threats on Western capitals and a dubious peace offer are all obvious tells Putin knows he is holding a losing hand — and yet, Biden and his national security team keep responding as if Moscow is holding four aces...

Because Ukraine never attacks civilian targets. We should trust the Ukrainians because they are such an honest government. What a joke.

So, Ukraine, with our help and missiles, targets civilians on a beach in Crimea

No, Ukraine did NOT target civilians on a beach.

Russians admitted they intercepted the missile above the beach.

Because Ukraine never attacks civilian targets.

US provided missiles are incredibly precise. Russian vacationers have been visiting Crimea, a war zone, by the tens of thousands, for more than three years, and have been watching Ukraine launched missiles hitting Russian Crimean military sites.

Some Russians happy to holiday in sunny Crimea despite blasts- Aug 17, 2022

Russian tourists took advantage of the heat and sun on Wednesday to enjoy a summer vacation in Crimea, saying they were not worried by blasts that rocked military bases earlier in the week.

Sure, they didn't. The missile wasn't anywhere near a military target.

The Ukrainians must certainly HAVE target civilians in Donetsk for 10 years. They used civilians as human shields in Mariupol. And, they shelled a nuclear power plant.

It think those were cluster munitions that fell on the civilians. I saw a video with sound and the sound seemed like what cluster munitions sound like. However, I don’t believe for a minute that the civilians were the intended target. Either a targeting mistake or, more likely, a deflected Ukrainian rocket was to blame.
On the other hand, who in their right mind would vacation next to a major military base in the third week of an extensive set of shaping attacks on those very bases?

“Russians admitted they intercepted the missile above the beach.”

Given the performance of the rus air-defense, more likely it was just their missile, which exploded after failed interception.

If you knew ANY Russian history, you would know that Russia is NEVER going to give back Crimea, which has been always historically Russia. Crimean War anyone?

Continuing to post drivel about Russia giving up Crimea to Ukraine is a non-starter.

It’s all over X, this is one site
https://x.com/NeutronLiam/status/1805612091849519451

Notice there is no alert, no attention drawn to an overhead intercept and explosion, no flaming wreckage or contrail, no notice by the people on the beach until the scattered munitions fall in a dispersed pattern

Fortunately many of the submunitions fell at sea, a direct release over the beach would have killed far more people

Thanks. Strange video. Some people run away, others keep walking calmly after 2 dozen stones fall into water...

ATACMS (cluster munition variant) carry hundreds of grenades - that's how the explosion look like - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ipr_hPAcR_Q

Also, I don't see anyone injured. If there's nothing more than that, it all seems to be typical kacap propaganda.

Here’s a newer version of that video. The older version is mentioned here too.

Just in case I didn’t give a proper URL the video is on YouTube from “Military & History”
and is titled “Crimea: Civilian Casualties Caused by Ukrainian ATACMS, new Video shows.”

Thanks. The link is working. But still the video is showing only a small area so it’s hard to say what really happened there.

Lol. There is literally a video of the strike available. How many M74 bomblets does an 9m330 hold?
