.... [It's] the first car-free neighborhood built from scratch in the U.S.," Culdesac CEO Ryan Johnson tells CNBC Make It. ...

Condo is just a fancy word for apartment. Which means jammed in with others as tight as the greedy developers can possibly design them.
Wait…what?
Of course that’s not even close to the first car free neighborhood in America. But sure whatever. The rent is actually pretty low compared to a lot of the country, so that’s kinda nice.

Believe me, if the greedy developers and their corrupt associates running these cities could, they would mow down all single family homes and put up multistory apartments as far as the eye can see. And they’d do it in a minute.
"Making candles, well that sounds creative, Bob. What kind of candles are they?"
"Ahh, They're really neat table candles, man!"
"Table candles?"
"Yeah, you pour wax on the table."
"Uh, huh."
"And then you set it on FIRE!"
"Well that sounds like a hot item, Bob!"
I’m sure she “works” very hard. /sarc

That’s what the environmentalists would do in a minute. The ‘greedy developers’ couldn’t care less.
you know they did.
just like they use tons of diesel to make their “zero” emissions cars.
“car free” ... but parking spaces for visitors and residents who need them?
Oh sure, the developers aren’t all about maximizing profits and jamming as many humans per square foot than they can possibly squeeze in.
They would never do that!
I agree. I am not against it at all. I just don’t want it to be the only way.
Lets also mention they still have cars parked outside the community as she stated.
Having lived in Phoenix for 3 years....I want nothing to do with being outside a lot and doing a lot of walking in the Summer months. The heat is just brutal.
I read about this place before. It’s just a large apartment complex with shops and restaurants. It’s perfect for people who don’t have cars.
Amish communities around here been car free for 200 years or so.
That’s not the first car free community in the US.
It’s the first virtue signaling one.
Reminds me of all the communes that formed in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Most of them collapsed when the they got snowed in for a week or more. that age old old familiarity breeds contempt thing.
“really excited for people to come and make candles.”
Using earwax?
The automobile was invented 138 years ago. The Amish communities have been car-free much longer than that.
