Is This Our First Look At Russia’s New Monster Glide Bomb Striking Ukraine?
The war zone ^ | 22 Jun 24 | Joe Trevithick

Posted on 06/22/2024 11:49:29 AM PDT by delta7

Russian forces have begun employing massive 3,000-kilogram (6,600-pound) class FAB-3000 M54 bombs turned into stand-off weapons in Ukraine it has been claimed. If true, this could present a significant new challenge for Ukrainian forces given the amount of destruction power such a weapon could deliver while also helping the launch platform stay further away from Ukrainian air defenses.

At the same time, questions have already been raised about what aircraft might be able to employ FAB-3000 M54s converted in this way and the size of the available stockpile of the bombs, all of which could limit their actual operational utility.

The Fighterbomber channel on Telegram, which has close connections to the Russian Aerospace Forces, shared a video, seen below, earlier today purporting to show the first combat employment of a FAB-3000 M54 fitted with a UMPK-series glide bomb kit. UMPK modules consist of a pop-out wing kit and a guidance package, as you can read more about here.

The FAB-3000 is one of, if not the largest conventional general-purpose high-explosive bomb in Russian service today. There is no direct U.S. military analog, with the largest of the three most common sizes of bombs American forces employ being in the 2,000-pound (900-kilogram) class, or less than a third of the size….

…. Whatever the weapon is, it clearly has significant destructive power, causing major damage to the apparent main target and completely leveling three other buildings. Other structures in the area also show signs of being damaged to varying degrees……

There you go with that pee pee pee nonsense. Just because the Russian economy is so depressed that Russian can buy lots of stuff and the government can buy lots of advanced weapons from Russian manufacturers with their worthless ruble their currency is still rubbish and they are a third rate power. Oh. and trust me, their nukes are old and useless too and don’t work. Tsar Bomba was a deep fake created by the same guys who staged that farce of a moon-landing. Imagine the Russians trying to buy first world quality arms from a first rate corrupt western defense contractor. With their trash ruble they couldn’t even afford the booze and hookers needed to negotiate the contract.

Those days when Russia had any ideas of expansion are long gone

You need to have a conversation with Putin, because, he would disagree with you 100%. Putin still longs for his old Soviet Union, and so do a lot of members of the Kremlin. Putin has stated himself that, his intentions are to restore the old Soviet Union. He's been busy doing so, and only those that are blind would ignore what's been happening in and around Russia.
br> BTW, if Putin wanted to win over Ukraine, why did he need to do it by force? Why not promise them a better future and win them over through actions that were not violent?

And,Putin's excuses for invading Ukraine are false and invented by him. But, simple-minded people can't see through the dictators' lies.

Makes the MOAB seem like a little sister.

Hardly. The FAB-3000 M54 only has 6,600lbs; the WWII Grand Slam had 9,500 lb; MOAB has 18,739 lb

“The BMD-4 features an advanced fire control system (FCS). The unique armament system provided by the Bakhcha-U and the reliable ride performance provided by the chassis gives the BMD-4 qualitatively new capabilities to units of land forces. The BMD-4 is able to fire all its primary armaments effectively regardless of whether the vehicle is stationary or mobile, whether the time is day or night, or whether it is afloat or land based. The FCS implements a significant increase of the armament effectiveness by engaging a wide scope of targets in complicated weather and landscape conditions. Advanced ballistic calculations allow the BMD-4 to fire from an enclosed position and the capability of effectively firing at low and slow aerial targets is provided.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMD-4

“the BMD-4 is capable of parachuting from aircraft with the entire crew and passengers inside the vehicle which allows target engagement after landing to be instant. An Il-76 is able to transport two of these vehicles at a time in comparison to three BMD-1s and BMD-2s.”

I have no idea how useful it really is nowadays given what Ukrainians use against armored vehicles.

Aren’t thousands already saying it in America

Some here on FR are saying "Go Vlad!", which is not that far from saying "Go Hamas!". Different wars but same kind of rhetoric.

Even a son of an American vice president appreciates money.

Everybody in the world appreciates having money. But, not everybody in the world appreciates simple-minded words or simple-minded thinking. Simple minds need not be on the internet.

CLASSIC!!!! But there is at least one FReeper (who is probably asleep by now in his part of the world) who is unable to deal with what you posted, as he freaked-out over a much more mild posting from me.

“if Putin wanted to win over Ukraine, why did he need to do it by force?”

Putin probably made an ultimatum and Ukrainians let the clock tick too long.

“This morning, the British ambassador in Berlin handed the German government a final note stating that unless we heard from them by 11 o’clock that they were prepared at once to withdraw their troops from Poland, a state of war would exist between us. I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received, and that consequently this country is at war with Germany.”

Whatever you’re going after, or whatever your points, why not express them without forcing people to go read the links’
contents?

Can you please expand on what your messaging is from outside the links, or at least provide some (not all) of the links’ content?

I try to say what I have to say without going to links, unless people force me to do so.

You may as well hype the Armata T-14 - neither exist outside of a few demonstrators.

The mass production of the modernized BMD-4 was later postponed along with the 2S25 Sprut-SD.

Nikolay Makarov, the Chief of the General Staff of Russian Armed Forces, dismissed the BMD-4 as “a version of the BMP-3” with no protection and costs more than an expensive tank.

In August 2012, Alexander Sukhorukov, who was then deputy Defense Minister, said that the BMD-4M armored vehicle does not meet the requirements put forward by the Russian military, and will not be purchased.

As long as the war is not lost to the global homosexual nazi supporters,
the argument is NOT lost. It is being actively “argued”.

Should we be defending the however many of the 46 US funded Gain of
Function Bio-Labs that remain in Ukraine, from 6400lb guided Russian glide
bombs? How? By arming and funding the Azov Brigade? By sending cluster
munitions, making us complicit in the kind of war criminality that springs from
such classes of weaponry and bio threats?

Maybe some things just aren’t all that defensible in the first place.

Putin probably made an ultimatum and Ukrainians let the clock tick too long.

You gotta be kidding!

An ultimatum with the threat of 200,000 Russian troops on the Ukr/Russian border? 200,000 troops was not an ultimatum; it was a sure sign that an invasion was coming, and that invasion was made possible by the weakness of the president of the U.S. and the hopeful waiting by the NATO countries who did not believe that Putin would go through with the invasion. Putin go the go-ahead from the U.S. and NATO, and now, Ukraine and Russia are suffering the consequences of the wishy-washy foreign policy of NATO/U.S.

Hey! Somebody that gets it!

Which is why Russia's threats of using nukes is not believed, by Putin or the NATO countries and the U.S.

“Simple minds need not be on the internet.”

Simple minds are the most common.

Greedy people are common too.

If you think some Ukrainians won’t sell advanced American weapons for a comfortable future, send them to Ukraine, renowned for its corruption.

Quotes:

hundreds of various types of weapons, including automatic guns, semi-automatic weapons, grenades, and also explosives, get smuggled into the country daily, from various countries, mostly from Eastern Europe, due to high demand by many gangs and criminal networks in Sweden.

while the Moscow-Kyiv war is still ongoing, he does not think that there is “a lot of leakage of weapon from Ukraine today.”

However, he added that “one day, the war will end, and then, those weapons, they need to go somewhere, someone will want to make money from them.”

You lost the argument right there.

Nobody can take you seriously, and people stop reading immediately as soon as they see your irrational and deranged form of arguing your points, whatever they were.

Those 6,600 pound glide bombs aren't really a threat to anyone - Miss Ukraine will just shoot 'em all down with her airsoft rifle:

Selling of weapons, and redirecting of weapons and getting rich whole doing so, happens in all wars. heck it even happens without any active wars.

Meanwhile, the war rages on, with all the weapons or part of the weapons delivered.
