IDF: NETANYAHU’S GOAL OF ELIMINATING HAMAS IS UNACHIEVABLE

The spokesman for the Israeli military explained that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s goal of eradicating Hamas is not achievable. The statement comes amid a growing rift between the Israeli leader and the military. In remarks to Israel’s Channel 13 News on Wednesday, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the military spokesperson, explained that the PM’s stated objective in Gaza is an insult to the Israeli people. “This business of destroying Hamas, making Hamas disappear – it’s simply throwing sand in the eyes of the public,” he said. “Hamas is an idea, Hamas is a party. It’s rooted in the hearts of the people – whoever thinks we can eliminate Hamas is wrong.” The statement from Hagari reflects assessments from US intelligence and military officials that destroying Hamas is not something that can be accomplished. The US intelligence community’s threat assessment released in March said that Israel would likely be fighting Hamas for years to come.

That means kill or expel almost all of the Palestinians. That is what it will take to end the war.

Expelling them means sending them here or to Europe because no Arab nation wants them. My money is on "here". That may solve Israel's bloody problem but we end up inheriting it here.

Frankly, the way things are, we should prefer the first option or we will find ourselves in our own Intifada forever war.

Looks like the Biden strategy to mobilize Netanyahu's domestic political opposition is proceeding apace.

Destroying Hamas was never the goal because destroying Hamas would entail wiping Gaza and it's population off the face of the earth.

No doubt part of the IDF strategy is pretty much raze Gaza to the ground and hoe the population flees to some other place and much of Gaza has been destroyed.

What Netanyahu's idea of destroying Hamas really entails is destroying the Hamas military infrastructure in Gaza and destroying it's tunnel networks so they no longer present a major military threat to Israel.

The big panic here is preventing the destruction of the Rafah tunnel networks because they are amazingly extensive and cross the border with Egypt .

These tunnels allow Hamas to smuggle weapons and fighters into and out of Gaza and a lot of people are making big bucks on this scam.

Turns out Rafah is a major hub of Hamas power in the Gaza.

Hence the massive political pressure to shut down any IDF actions to dismantle the Hamas terror networks in Rafah.
