North Korea and Russia agreed to provide immediate military assistance if either faced armed aggression, under a pact their leaders signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s first visit in 24 years.

The pledge is seen as the revival of a mutual defence agreement under a 1961 treaty adopted by the Cold War allies that was annulled in 1990 when the Soviet Union established diplomatic ties with South Korea.

The agreement for a “comprehensive strategic partnership” signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Wednesday is one of the highest-profile moves in Asia by Moscow in years.

“If either side faces an armed invasion and is in a state of war, the other side will immediately use all available means to provide military and other assistance in accordance with Article 51 of the U.N. Charter and the laws of each country,” Article 4 of the agreement says.

Now we also have Article 4 to be concerned about. At what point will NATO missile attacks on the Russian homeland trigger the invocation of Article 4 and a transfer of 500,000 NORK troops to Ukraine? I’m sure the South Koreans are thrilled that the NORKS are sitting under a Russian nuclear umbrella now.

North Korea feels, probably truly feels, that they are in constant danger of invasion. We in the West act as though Putin and North Korea see the same “truth” we see and they’re just pretending to view reality in terms favorable to whatever they want to do. But I suspect the way they say they see the world is exactly how the really see it. As such, North Korea would never make themselves vulnerable to the attack they always fear, by sending troops anywhere else.

Sometimes, as crazy as they sound, crazy people really believe what they say. (Which means some men really do feel they are women trapped in a man’s body. Crazy? To the rest of us, yes. To them, maybe not. I mean when everyone around you buys into the crazy by calling you Ms., then you get constant validation.)

Which perfectly describes both Putin and Kim. Sociopaths never know they are sociopaths.

“...a transfer of 500,000 NORK troops to Ukraine?”

North Korea is not interested in losing those troops - which is exactly what would happen.

Oh I think it’s a safe bet you will be seeing Norms in Ukraine real soon, the question is will they put up with being sacrificed like Russian troops or will they start surrendering hoping for a chance at freedom? That is if they aren’t Joan Dow by their officers first.

One difference is that this alliance was only necessary because the Neocons gave Ukraine the green like to launch missiles at Moscow. If the Neocons could only CONTROL THEMSELVES, then this alliance wouldn’t exist today.

Well, this alliance (that basically already existed) wouldn't be necessary if Russia hadn't given themselves the green light to launch missiles at Ukraine. If Russia could CONTROL HERSELF, then N. Korea wouldn't need to pretend they're gonna send half a million troops to Ukraine.

At this point, the war ends in one of two ways. Russia achieves its objectives (meaning wins), or both sides lose (the West and Russia), since Russia will has outright stated that Ukraine is an “Existential Threat”, meaning that the war cannot end in any other way as Russia will use all means at its disposal to win.

So do the Neocons choose World War 3 over losing in Ukraine? I would like to think not, but at this point, it’s 50/50.

Or, Ukraine keeps putting up enough resistance and Russia finally gives up. I’m sure they’ll still occupy Crimea and parts of the Donbass region, but likely pivot to an entirely defensive mode and force Ukraine to come after them, or just end it and let Russia keep what they’ve got. At this point, even if Russia somehow suddenly was granted divine intervention and made it to the Polish border next week, that wouldn’t be much of a win. Russia’s lost a huge number of young men, a significant chunk of their ancient Navy, quite a few old rare planes, a huge number of outdated tanks (scared of losing their couple parade t-14s,so they aren’t over there), and they’ve showcased to the world that the somewhat-”big scary bear” is useless outside of minimal trench warfare style tactics.

That wouldn’t be a loss for the West, we have no skin in the game there. Loss for Ukraine, certainly. Loss for Democrats, yes. But for the West as a whole, it’s really mostly inconsequential.

“Or, Ukraine keeps putting up enough resistance and Russia finally gives up.”

The last time that happened when Russians were under attack was about 500 years ago - so anymore great ideas?
