And I think they should have reunified with Japan a long time ago…

You seem to have a lot invested in supporting the Chicom party line.

I don’t thing China was ever really going to invade - it was all talk and part of a propaganda campaign. Host of reasons

The original post I responded to was why is China totally invested in taking back Taiwan, I offered my opinion, you’re the one who went off a tangent

>>”Did you miss the part of my post that said Taiwan was independent until China gained what they believe is comparable military power, when they believe that Taiwan will not be independent.”

Yes, I missed it, because it was never there.

In fairness to you, while you didn’t mention that in the post I was responding to, you did mention it in your original post. Either way, it’s beside the point. You and I don’t appear to disagree on the basic facts. Our point of contention is your assertion that China views Taiwanese independence the same way we would view it if one of our own states broke away. And while you acknowledge that the two scenarios are different, you argue that China views them the same way, which is why they’re intent on acquiring it. I believe that to be false.

The CCP knows that the situation between themselves and Taiwan is different from the way in which they portray it. They know Taiwan is not a breakaway Republican no matter how much they claim otherwise.

The difference between a murderer claiming he killed someone in self defense and someone who actually killed someone in self defense is that one’s lying while the other is telling the truth. If the CCP claims their relation to Taiwan is analogous to our relationship with our own states, they’re saying something they know to be untrue in order to hide their true motives.

But you “opinion” is facile and only repeats Chinese talking points.

It’s therefore superficial and presents non-factual and illogical argument.

Maybe you’re not familiar with anything but propaganda.

Ukraine’s equipment inventory is sparse compared to Taiwan’s.

Correct!

Taiwan's war fighting equipment includes:

-Patriots
-F-16Vs (F-16A upgraded to F-16C block 70)
-P-3s (Upgraded to latest version Harpoon)
-AGM-84 Harpoon
-Aim-120 AMRAAM
-Aim-9X
-FGM-148 Javelin

Taiwan's navy includes:

-Destroyers (4)
-Frigates (22)
-Corvettes (3)
-Patrol Vessels and Missile Ships (37)
-Mine warfare (14)
-Amphibious ships (4)
-Submarines (4)
-Support Vessels (5)

Given the success of Ukraine's USVs I strongly believe that Taiwan is building a lot of USVs.

WRT U.S. support, the USAF could easily fly defensive counter-air (DCA) missions flying F-22s out of Kadena AB, Okinawa. These missions would help defend Taiwan's airspace against aircraft, cruise missiles, and drones.

I would prefer not getting involved in a major war with China if understanding their motives about Taiwan then I’m guilty

If totally buying into the neocon world view and endless wars makes someone a warmonger that might be you

I would prefer to battle China over the fentanyl that ends up killing thousands of Americans and rounding up the thousands Chinese nationals illegally entering our country, which seems like a better use of our money

Read my other responses about how to deal with China, like stopping the fentanyl they send here thru Mexico killing thousands of Americans and rounding up the thousands of Chinese nationals illegally entering America which seems like a better use of our time and money but some people perhaps you are one who solves every problem with a war

And seizing every inch of property and company owned by a Chinese company-reselling them for pennies on the dollar-just like we did to German-owned companies in WW 1.
And kick out every Chinese college student.

I would be for that too, people run around professing their loyalty to MAGA while advocating for war over Taiwan when China is sending fentanyl thru Mexico that kills thousands of Americans and thousands of military aged Chinese are streaming across our border and nobody seems to care

I’m confused on what’s MAGA and what’s not

“Is that what you’d do? “

So, what does “that” in this question refer to ?

Buy a map.

“The distance from Portsmouth to the Normandy beaches is approximately 90 miles.”

Plus this seeming eventuality comes at a time when we are overextended and distracted elsewhere around the world by our endless engagements.

Our far flung and endless military adventures have taken a toll on our readiness. You can’t operate at a high tempo indefinitely, and we are coming close to that with our extended commitments around the globe. Platforms, weapons, munitions and personnel are under constant strain. Maintenance, training, replenishment and refurbishment get delayed. So less than optimal readiness when you really need it. Just sayin’.

Have you ever posted something without being a jerk? You always have to add that snark.

And 40 miles in open, shallow seas is not a little off.

Look at Google Map, moron.

It is 150km.

I am tired of Zeeper, bravado, Zeeper overconfidence, Zeeper delusions, Zeeper obsolete fantasies of Western power.

All in the direction of war.

War between NATO and Russia,

War in the Pacific.

Canada out of NATO now !

Excellent post, also we now have between 1 or 2 hundred troops in Taiwan primarily training them, including some SF 3 miles off of China training Taiwanese SOF.

It is in the interest of Taiwan to do the deal.

It is in THEIR interest.

Rather than be destroyed for the ego and vanity of American NeoCons.
