President Joe Biden and Donald Trump will face off in a 90-minute debate with mutable microphones, broadcaster CNN said Saturday, as it laid ground rules for the first in-person clash between the pair ahead of November's election.
The rules for the June 27 debate, which will have two hosts and no studio audience, were agreed by the Biden and Trump campaigns, according to CNN.
"Both candidates agreed to appear at a uniform podium, and their podium positions will be determined by a coin flip," the channel said, adding that microphones "will be muted throughout the debate except for the candidate whose turn it is to speak."
No props or notes will be allowed on stage, with candidates only given a pen, pad of paper and a bottle of water, CNN said.
It said the debate, hosted in Atlanta, Georgia, will last 90 minutes with two commercial breaks -- during which campaign staff cannot interact with their candidate.
"Some aspects of the debate –- including the absence of a studio audience –- will be a departure from previous debates," CNN said.
But, the network said, moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash -- both star news anchors for CNN -- "will use all tools at their disposal to enforce timing and ensure a civilized discussion."

And wonder during the debate why Biden didn’t also do the same.
Yes, Biden has lucid moments so if they time it right, he’ll look good. Trump is Trump, disciplined and on topic he’s good. It will be a bit like the DeSantis and Newsom debate—Like DeSantis, Trump has the good data, we were better off under Trump then since under Biden.

Biden is going to be shot up with experimental drugs.
How many times do you have to see it?
Yes, muting the mics fairly will be a plus. Trump just needs to fluster Biden, get him confused, without getting himself cut off or the moderators coming to defend Biden. Then again, if they do, like that one debate where the moderator tries fact-checking Trump, it will be egg on their faces. Everyone expects the moderators to be bias, can they keep it in check? I think Trump might goad them both.
Trump should make sure the coin CNN is using for the coin flip isn’t a two-sided coin.
I actually also think that the muted mic rule can be good for Trump, too. He blew the first debate four years ago with his antics and turned off many who were on the fence. Simply calmly stating the facts about the Biden years would be his best approach.
No food or drink for Biden, just drugs. We’ll see him wind down, all it will take is one on stage freeze, one that goes way too long, maybe Trump steps over, asks, ‘Are you okay?’

Pure speculation but I don’t put it past the organizers that Biden’s “water bottle” will have whatever concoction he needs in it while Trump’s will be laced with something.
The rules should include the same amount of camera time for both, with no cutaways when Biden freezes or stutters or makes gaffes or wanders off the stage or through the stage.
And, no pre-determined outcomes from CNN and MSNBC or the left-wing media, which will conclude that, Biden won the debate. B ut, it’s inevitable that the left-wing media will conclude that Biden won the debate, even if he drops dead or refuses to answer any questions. Reality is that the left has concluded that Biden won the debate before the debates even take place.
Can Biden be replaced by a clone?

Trump should bring a few of his Trump-branded bottles of water.
Plenty of time to keep lowering expectations for Biden so he can do better than expected ….so they still think they can get a bump.
It is a good thing I will not be on that stage.
I would just point and laugh at Bidet.
1) Trump needs to call a press conference just before the start of the debate like he did with those 4 women who were groped by Bill Clinton. Bring up something that does not have anything to do with Biden. Pelosi’s ‘full responsibility on Jan. 6th comes to mind.
2) Bring up the no tax on tips pledge as a teaser on the end. Pet the whole party on defense-the democrats that is.
This may sound strange, but I think that it would be good for Trump if Biden doesn’t do badly in the first debate. Because, if he is too obviously senile and wanders off the stage or something, they may replace him at the convention. It would be good if he does well enough to have his candidacy survive until after the Democrat convention.
Trump has to be very careful and not overdo the attack on Biden.
It never pays to appear as bullying the Special Ed kid.

Also, if he brings up Hunter, leave the conviction alone, and dwell on the Biden Crime Family LLC’s & Jim & Hunter’s involvement in money laundering & extortion rackets.
Your right, let him survive a bit longer. After the convention, early voting starts on September 20 in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Virginia. Lots of constitutional and legal issues if there are votes already made for Biden, ballots already printed, and he drops out. And the electoral college—democrats my have votes for Biden and for Harris if she takes over for him. Could be very interesting and very historic.
