President John F. Kennedy took the virginity of a 19-year-old White House intern in his wife Jackie's bed before engaging in an 18-month-long affair with the young girl that continued up until his assassination in 1963.

The scandal is told by DailyMail.com columnist Maureen Callahan in her new book 'Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed', which is being published exclusively by the Mail in a major new series.

No, this is old news. The whole idea is to besmirch RFK. This whole story is in several books and news articles. Its never been verified. But it certainly could have happened in whole or just part. But this the book is written now to fight RFK. And has no other purpose.

When my mom was a flight attendant (or “airline hostess” in those days), one of the ladies she flew with was having an affair with JFK. When they arrived in DC, the White House would send a limo out to the plane to pick her up for her layover.

The distinction between the public and private facets of life is a polite convention that modern biographers and historians disregard so as to better assess the entire person. In addition, JFK's compulsive and reckless womanizing led to a belief in the CIA, military intelligence, and the FBI that he had become compromised and a threat to national security. This may have motivated JFK's assassination by elements of the national security state in collusion with LBJ.

In fairness to JFK, he suffered from complex and not fully understood health problems that led to him taking a cocktail of drugs that included steroids and methamphetamine. In addition to family influences and personal decisions, these no doubt contributed to Kennedy's womanizing.

Moreover, John Kennedy had a genuine charm that won over other people. And we have reason to be grateful that he vetoed a US invasion of Cuba, infuriating the highest echelons of the US military in doing so. The US was unaware at the time that such an invasion would likely have triggered the firing of Soviet nuclear weapons in Cuba on the US, followed by a general nuclear exchange.

A physician I once knew told me that his physician colleague in Washington D.C. had related to him that it was well known that JFK and the boys would have sex with women so often it was almost like having breakfast daily. Double hearsay I guess, but it seems to be plausible.
