President Joe Biden called for Congress to ban bump stocks just hours after the Supreme Court of the United States struck down the ATF’s ban on the firearm accessories.
Biden did this via a post to X, where he wrote: “Today’s Supreme Court decision strikes down an important gun safety regulation. We know thoughts and prayers are not enough. I call on Congress to ban bump stocks, pass an assault weapon ban, and take action to save lives – send me a bill and I will sign it immediately.”
A longer statement from Biden was attached to the X post. That statement said in part:
Notwithstanding this decision, my Administration will continue to take action. I took on the NRA and signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act — the most significant gun violence reduction legislation to pass Congress in nearly 30 years. My Administration established the first ever White House office of Gun Violence Prevention, made historical investments in mental health to support people in times of crisis, and expanded background checks to keep firearms out of the wrong hands.
He ended the statement with a call for more gun control.

The ONLY legit option for Biden and anyone is to amend the constitution, not infringe it. The court should clear the deck on this by saying the 2nd Amendment is clear, all laws limiting its exercise are unconstitutional and the only course of action is via changing the 2nd Amendment. With 28 states having some form of constitutional carry, that’s a non-starter.
He can’t just issue an Executive Order like he does with every other illegal thing he does?.............
Time to buy bump stocks with cash if that’s your thing.
And perfectly fine with Biden urging Congress do act. What I detest is this constant unelected administrative drones just passing fiat regulations to restrict my freedom, or “forgive” debt. There are three equal branches of government. There are no kings and a very bad deep state that needs a serious put down.

Just keep them (new and old) legal subject to Title II regulations. Set aside, for a moment, it is an infringement.
I think it is still accurate to say that since 1934 no registered full-auto weapon in the U.S. has been used in a murder; except for one used by a policeman.

Perhaps we should start these announcements with “Person pretending to be Joe Biden” issues statement...
maybe Stallone or Schwarzenegger could handle the weight of a weapon plus 200 rounds and shoot accurately at anything but the ground, but the rest of us? no. just no.
So SCOTUS declares a new law unconstitutional, and Slow Joe asks congress to create a new law.. that they just declared unconstitutional

Can somebody explain, in simple language, what a “bump stock” is and how it can possibly mimic
a machine gun?
