PITTSBURGH — An explosive unearthed podcast clip exposes swing-district Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-Pa.) slamming former President Donald Trump’s supporters as a “horde of budding blood-and-soil fascists.”

The attorney, then a University of Pittsburgh legal and policy scholar, made the comments in a 2020 appearance on “Save Us From The Johns” — a politics podcast that’s since been renamed “Save Us From The Op-Eds.”

“Day-job work right now is very focused on election protection,” Deluzio said of his work at Pitt. “And that’s, broadly speaking, making sure this maniac in the White House and his, you know, horde of budding blood-and-soil fascists don’t suppress the vote. And that is basically keeping me and everyone else who’s doing that work very busy, in Pennsylvania and everywhere else.”

Deluzio, 39, represents Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District, which covers Beaver County and part of Allegheny County in suburban Pittsburgh. He was first elected there — one of seven House districts the Cook Partisan Voting Index rates “even” — in 2022, winning 53.4% of the vote against Republican challenger Jeremy Shaffer.

This year, Deluzio faces GOP state representative and Iraq War veteran Rob Mercuri in the general election. Representing Allegheny County in the Pennsylvania statehouse since 2021, Mercuri serves on the body’s Education, Finance and Government Oversight committees.

Deluzio is not the only vulnerable Pennsylvania House Democrat to have disparaged constituents.

Last week, The Post reported that Rep. Susan Wild locked her Facebook account after being called out for a bizarre comment she made on the platform calling a veteran she encountered at a Memorial Day parade homophobic.

Blood and soil (German: Blut und Boden) is a nationalist slogan expressing Nazi Germany's ideal of a racially defined national body ("Blood") united with a settlement area ("Soil"). By it, rural and farm life forms are idealized as a counterweight to urban ones. It is tied to the contemporaneous German concept of Lebensraum, the belief that the German people were to expand into Eastern Europe, conquering and displacing the native Slavic and Baltic population via Generalplan Ost.

"Blood and soil" was a key slogan of Nazi ideology. The nationalist ideology of the Artaman League and the writings of Richard Walther Darré guided agricultural policies which were later adopted by Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler and Baldur von Schirach.

Voter registration in PA-17: Democrat 49%, Republican 36%

This Democrat scumbag has about 3x as much money as the Republican too.

This district lies right next door to mine and was gerrymandered into existence back in 2018 on behalf of Democrat rising star (how quickly they fade) Conor Lamb when the PA Democrat Supreme Court eliminated 4 Republican House members with the stroke of a pen (and it was almost 6 — they barely missed on Fitzpatrick and Perry).

PA-17 excludes most of the Pittsburgh ghetto area but deliberately includes ghetto suburbs to the east (Penn Hills, Wilkinsburg, etc.) and formerly decent but now declining areas like Mt. Lebanon.

It also includes the once-solid GOP areas north of the city which have been lurching leftward since the Trump years.

Whatever comments this Nazi democrat bastard makes are likely to go basically unreported in the liberal Pittsburgh media, and probably wouldn’t hurt him much even if they were reported. He’s got about a 75%-80% chance of being re-elected and that’s possibly a conservative estimate.
