Biden and Zelensky sign 10-year US-Ukraine security agreement

President Joe Biden and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a 10-year security agreement Thursday that they hailed as a milestone in relations between their countries, but that alone was not enough to stop Zelenskyy from wondering how much longer he could count on America's support.

Zelenskyy also said his country “urgently” needed additional air defense systems to protect Ukrainians and the nation's infrastructure from Russia's continued bombardment.

The leaders signed the agreement on the sidelines of the annual Group of Seven summit, held this year in Italy, and Biden said the goal "is to strengthen Ukraine's defense and deterrence capabilities.”

Zelenskyy said at a joint news conference that the signing made for a “truly historic day,” but he also wondered about the durability of support from the United States and other allies.

Ukraine's president said the right question to ask is “for how long the unity in the world will remain? The unity in the U.S., together with European leaders" and how it will be influenced by the outcome of elections this year in many of those countries.

“The security pact, which would remain in effect for 10 years, does not offer Ukraine any new money but includes a commitment by the U.S. to work with Congress on a source of sustainable funding for the future. Text of the agreement released by the White House also describes how the U.S. will coordinate with Ukraine and other U.S. allies and partners to make sure Ukraine has the military, intelligence and other means necessary to defend itself and deter Russian aggression.

The U.S. and Ukraine would also consult “at the highest levels” in the event of a future armed attack by Russia against Ukraine. Either side may terminate the agreement in writing with six months’ notice, which means a future U.S. president, including Trump if elected in November, could cancel the arrangement.

Scores of countries and organizations are set to meet over the weekend in Switzerland to discuss peace for Ukraine. Biden is not scheduled to attend the summit, and that has disappointed Zelenskyy. Vice President Kamala Harris will represent the U.S. instead while the Democratic president attends a campaign fundraiser in Los Angeles.

Zelenskyy recently said the Swiss summit needs Biden’s participation because other leaders value the U.S. viewpoint. He said Biden’s absence “will be only an applaud to Putin, a personal applaud to Putin.”

If he’s not competent to be charged and tried for national security information breaches…as specified by the special investigator..

Then he is not competent to sign treaties or agreements or orders on behalf of the United States of America

I don’t believe a security agreement with another country is valid without congressional approval/sign-off.

President Biden Holds a Joint Press Conference with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiLgGjFzcV4

Is Zelenskyy still President of Ukraine??
I thought his term had expired...

The Left freaks out that Trump may stay in office after his term expires...

But the Left have no issues with Zelenskyy doing just that!

Time to “cut bait on” the Ukraine “let’s aggravate Russia because we can” project.

Our Treasury is broke and kooks pretending it isn’t, should explain why Ukraine is essential to the security of the United States.

Answer: They can’t, because Ukraine doesn’t matter to our national security.

You could with a Treaty, but that takes 2/3rds Senate vote.

The deep state doesn’t even try to enact treaties anymore.

They just pass international agreements that aren’t treaties, & let federal & state executive agencies administrate the rules.

Win-win for the globalists.

Despite it's awkward title, Alexander Mercouris' remarks in the thread I'm linking below gives an insightful overview of the real situation in the Ukraine, and it's part of why I believe that 10 yr agreement is worthless optics.

I also believe that the Ukraine might be divided among it's neighboring nations. I've heard, but not seen any proof yet, that Blackrock is buying up land there.

In the News/Activism forum, on a thread titled Biden and Zelensky sign 10-year US-Ukraine security agreement, rod5591 wrote:

Alexander Mercouris offers the opinion that the 'peace conference' in Switzerland is not a true peace conference. Nations invited were contacted by Zelensky -he's behind the scenes, running the show. He's holding this 'peace conference' to shore up his legitimacy as head of the Ukraine.

Zelensky canceled  his country's elections (martial law) which have never been rescheduled. In recent remarks to world journalists, Putin disputed Zelensky's legitimacy in office due to this fact, and doesn't plan to negotiate with him, but will plan to negotiate with others (potentially the US).

In a way, I wonder if Putin is arranging to negotiate with Zelensky's puppet masters as they are the ones who shot down Zelensky's earlier agreement to negotiate with Putin.

I believe the Ukraine as it is currently configured will not be around for 10 years.

I was thinking the same thing. What he is doing is totally unconstitutional. I would even go so far to say what he’s doing is criminal. Why is no one in Congress sounding the alarm over this?

If Congress doesn’t vote to fund it, it’s meaningless.
