The news that four Russian warships are in Havana for naval exercises brings to mind the old mariner’s aphorism, “Any port in a storm.”
Cuba is in desperate need of economic help, and Russia has been providing it. The result is a deepening partnership that has geopolitical echoes of the Cold War, although the Cubans are now drawn to Moscow less by ideological affinity than economic necessity.
Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cuban economy has been wracked by the gales of a perfect storm — a confluence of intensified U.S. sanctions imposed by President Trump, a pandemic that shuttered the tourism industry, and ill-conceived government policies that have made things worse rather than better.

Four ships. Including a tanker and tug. So when the frigate craps out there is enough fuel to drag it back to Mother Russia.
Not exactly a scary proposition.
What about the Kazan submarine?
Supposedly carrying hyper sonic missiles ?
Right now we are in no position to brag “ours is better”. Russia has been made our enemy but never underestimate your enemy.
This would not be happening if Donald Trump’s election hadn’t been stolen.
Biden and his handlers/Globalists/ Deep State/Military Industrial Complex have purposefully let this get out of hand. They want war.
Russia has a very large intel collection base on Cuba.
The Monroe Doctrine is a fading myth.
Oh noes! A Russian frigate, A sub, A tanker and a tugboat are in Havana! We’se all goin to die! 🙄
Being completely annialated isn’t the worst thing that could happen.
Certainly not worth spending decades worrying about?
The russians are in cuba to pick up cigars ……
“The Monroe Doctrine is a fading myth.”
It worked well when the US was not the world’s police/ Military. We actually left other people alone and asked them to do the same for us.
Not to worry.
They make nice targets.....................
> We actually left other people alone and asked them to do the same for us. <
Right you are. The Monroe Doctrine actually had two parts. We told Europe to stay out of the Americas. And in turn we would not interfere in Europe.
Well, we violated that second part. So we really have no high ground to complain if/when Europe violates the first part.
The Russian navy is fleeing to safety.
Neither the Baltic, the Mediterranean (Syria) nor the Black sea are safe for Russian vessels any more.

Probably waiting to evacuate Mayorkass to safety if President Trump is re-elected.

And the Pacific fleet is busy learning Chinese.
We went through this in the 60s and Russia backed down when Kennedy threaten to launch nukes against them within 15 minute if they tried to run our blockade. They backed down. I believe the best the Biden administration can do now is threaten to cut off aid to Israel.
Was thinking along the same lines. Russia might need those ships at home considering they are losing quite a few to drone strikes.
There is nothing of value to export from Cuba. It’s the reason Russia pulled the plug on them in the first place.
Russians got tired of ‘dead heading’ shipping back to the USSR.
Castro destroyed that country
Both sides backed down. We got our missiles out of Turkey too.
