Cuomo displays his COVID lies and bromides before Congress — but NY knows the truth

In compliance with a congressional subpoena, the disgraced former governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, finally arrived in Washington, DC, on Tuesday to answer for his pandemic actions before the subcommittee tasked with investigating the COVID-19 response.

In typical fashion, he opened the hearing with the familiar lies and hackneyed talking points we have been hearing for four years.

But unlike his Albany fireside chats in which he pretended to know what he was doing, Tuesday’s statements are now part of the congressional record and made under oath.

Cuomo’s comment on the March 25, 2020, directive that sent more than 9,000 COVID-positive patients into nursing homes for six weeks: It wasn’t his fault!

He was just following orders by the federal government, folks!

...and on a youtube channel, which the platform suggested to me ex nihilo and which I immediately blocked.

This is a clear case of TDS taking lives.

Trump had provided a hospital ship on the Hudson, that could have taken these patients and kept them quarantined from other elderly people who did not yet have Covid. But oh, no, can’t do that. Trump would have gotten credit for saving lives!

Hearings are another waste of time by Republicans in the House. Soundbites for the news, a report to file away, nothing accomplished. Who really cares what excuses a disgraced Democrat governor has to say about decisions he made years ago?

The most significant power of the House of Representatives under the Constitution is the power of the purse. The president cannot spend one dime without an appropriations bill authorizing it originating and being passed by the House.

Once again the Republicans have wasted their majority in the House. They could have brought discipline to the appropriations process. They could have spent their time going through the myriad of agency expenditures to eliminate real waste and programs that no longer have value. They could have eliminated the billions of discretionary funds buried in the federal budget which leftist bureaucrats channel to left wing social justice organizations or the POTUS simply gives away. They could have eliminated the so called “base line” used by agencies for proposing budgets which is not really a base line it is prior year spending plus an inflation factor. They could have ended the earmarks for special interests. They could have cancelled the unspent stimulus funds which when spent will increase the accumulated national debt and will drive inflation.

Yet instead of rolling up their sleeves and doing real work to bring spending under control, they continued playing the Democrat game of passing last minute multi trillion dollar omnibus spending bills filled with pork and waste. They did it in 2011 after the Tea Party gave Boehner’s House Republicans the majority. They did it again under Speaker Paul Ryan during Trump’s first two years in office when the GOP controlled the Senate, the House and the White House. They have done it again since achieving the majority again under Speakers McCarthy and Johnson.

So in the falll of 2024 I will once again been told I need to vote again to reelect my GOP Congresscritter who is fully complicit with this farce. The people who do nothing to improve the situation when in power are telling me that if the Democrats take over the House the sky will fall and the nation will be destroyed. Hmmm. So once again the choice is between the destroyers and the enablers of the destroyers. The nation is going down the tubes whichever is elected.

IIRC, didn't Mister Cuomo have at his option a U.S. Navy hospital ship to which the covid positives could be sent and treated? (Corrections invited.)

It should scare all ordinary folks that Cuomo and so many of his fellow Dems have absolutely no conscience.

He was just following orders by the federal government, folks!

That's what he says now to protect himself. So his book about how great he was should be re-written to say he was follower not a leader as he claimed.

Republicans used to claim they were for smaller government. Clearly they are not and to claim otherwise is misrepresentation.

Let’s also not forget that the Dem governors of MI and NV also took similar measures that Cuomo did that needlessly killed numerous elderly nursing home residents. In contrast, Ron DeSantis took efforts to keep those with COVID out of the nursing homes in FL, saving many old people’s lives.

We have to vote for somebody, don't we? It's our civic duty. Just like paying taxes: we don't like some of the things our taxes pay for -- welcome packages for invaders, fat cats in foreign governments, wars...but we can't very well pick and choose, can we? That's for "them" to decide. We are here to submit and we do a darn good job of it.

Trump had CMS relax its regs in mid March of 2020 allowing residential care facilities the ability to refuse to take sick CoupFlu patients back from the hospital.

Cuomo ordered them sent back in May.

The facilities complied.

Our legislature has shown no interest into getting to the bottom of that, why it was done, how compliance was obtained.

I hope Trump will.
