I've been asked to chime in, so I'm chiming. But you're not gonna like it. The state of discourse on FR is totally up to you. You know the guidelines and rules. I don't need to repeat them again and again and again. We are mostly adults here and mostly Christian conservatives. We all know how to behave in a mixed public setting. We don't need and don't want to be supervised.
Before you post that next profane post or personal attack just ask yourself, what would Jesus do.
Can't we all just get along?
Thank you all very much and God bless you.
When you be like Jesus, you get crucified. My experience since Clinton. Just hangin here on a tree. Pharisees still in control. My church and country has abandoned Him.
Gettin along. Gettin along.
Still, I usually feel regret after posting cuss words or personal attacks. But I’m a Sinner. And unworthy of redemption. Just making excuses for myself and going on.
Amen.
Indeed, as are we all.
I’ve gotten along pretty well with just about everyone on FR for the past 26, almost 27 years. And thank you for making that possible.
I don’t think you understand the forces that you are up against. Not grass roots. Organized. They really don’t care about being nice. Disruption is the game.
Glad to see you post. God bless.
Yes, I know. That was tongue in cheek. ;
Besides that, it was pointed out to me recently that Jesus did not come as a uniter. He came as a divider.
BFL.
Yes, I know that too. Just having a hard time recognizing which ones are the paid forces against us. I’ve seen some of my best friends who have been here 20, 25 years being accused of being paid Russian trolls. Guess I’m going to have to have another look at their check stubs.
.
We should all listen to this man, and heed the call.
God Bless Jim Robinson
‘When you be like Jesus, you get crucified.’
true that, brother or sister. but praise God for His Mercy, for that’s exactly how you get ‘born again.’
Amen!
Devolving into name calling and spurious false accusations is the big problem from what I can see.
Nobody can read another’s mind.
Also, there is the taking something wrong. I’ve seen people take offense at something quite innocuous. Tone of voice and inflection cannot be transmitted via the written word.
I really like the gardening threads the best. Lots of camaraderie and help.
We've all been there. everyone has a bad day once ina while.
Best thing to do, IMO, is apologize and ask to have the offending post removed.
Paul also protested, according to Luke:
Acts. 23:3 —
“Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit there to judge me according to the law, yet you yourself violate the law by commanding that I be struck!””
That would certainly have gotten snowflakes howling on Free Republic.
Paul wrote epistles to Christians on how to treat each other, not just advice to anyone at anytime.
He even had churches kick out Christians who were overtly sinning.
Thank you. I will try to give myself at least a minute pause when tempted to fire off an uncharitable reply.
I value the admonition inherent in Ephesians 4:29 to think (and pray) before speaking, considering not how to make myself feel better but rather how to bless the hearer. That works when addressing believers and nonbelievers alike.
Forty-five years ago I attended a talk by one of our pastors on that verse. I memorized it then and have employed it many hundreds of times since. Those occasions when I neglect it usually serve strongly to reinforce its necessity.
“...considering not how to make myself feel better but rather how to bless the hearer. That works when addressing believers and nonbelievers alike.”
Have you ever paid attention the dialogue Jesus had with the Pharisees? Do you think they felt blessed?
