CHICAGO — A California man is charged with attempted murder, accused of attacking a 71-year-old woman with a knife outside Union Station on Wednesday afternoon. Wilson Barreno, 25, of Oakland, will appear before a judge for a detention hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse on Friday.
Chicago police said Barreno is the man who attacked the woman from behind as she walked her dog in the 200 block of South Canal just before 2 p.m. Police said he stabbed her with a sharp object, leaving her in critical condition. The woman suffered stab wounds to her neck and back, officials said.
Witnesses chased Barreno and detained him for police in the 500 block of West Tilden, not far from the Clinton CTA station. Investigators discovered one knife at the crime scene, as well as two more knives that witnesses saw the man toss into a garbage can.
More details about the attack may be revealed during Barreno’s court appearance on Friday.
In addition to attempted murder, he is charged with two counts of aggravated battery.

Something tells me that he is not from Kalifornia.................
He is not American. Period.
Where’s Al Capone when you need him?
Incident occurred in Downtown Los Angeles. Some might say DTLA is no longer America.
Thought it was L.A. too...but I think it was Chicago.
Freegards...
But, the Chicago press will call him a California man to hide that probable fact.
