President Joe Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Paris on Friday as the United States clashes with its ally and with the Kremlin over supplies of American weapons.

Biden offered a first public apology for the monthslong delay in U.S. military aid that Russia has exploited to make crucial battlefield advances. He also announced a new package of $225 million in weapons, including air defense interceptors, artillery ammunition and other critical capabilities.

“I assure you the United States is going to stand with you,” Biden told Zelenskyy. “We are still in, completely,” he added.

Just curious; not sure if anyone here has knowledge or opinion but here goes:
Do we (the U.S.) have a lot of older materiel in long term mothball storage like Pershings, Honest John, Davey Crocketts, etc that could be brought out and used to good effect by the UKEs rather than rot here? Since we are apparently so “All-In” on defending Ukraine, why not clear the basement catacombs of EVERYTHING we have sitting and is NEVER going to be used again to defend the U.S. in battle?
And I mean, EVERYTHING. Thoughts?

[...Honest John, Davey Crocketts,]

Congress passed and funded another $225 million?

They had to put that lie in the headline about the delay causing Russian gains. There was no delay in the weapons being sent to Ukraine. Russian gains happened because Ukraine lacks the manpower to fight along the entire front. It also could be blamed on corrupt Ukrainians who stole the money that was supposed to be used to build up defenses in the area Russia attacked.

Have you missed the 100s and probably 1000s of posts over the years explaining about all that?

Getting rid of the old, avoiding the expense of environmental disposal rules by sending it to Ukraine to fill its original purpose against Russians instead, while replacing everything with either improved copies of the old stuff, or entirely different weapon systems and new types of missiles.

Remember the old less efficient Cluster shells and bombs that Trump saved from expensive disposal?

Thank you, No, not including nuclear warheads which would have by now been reprocessed into other more modern uses. I wondered if the launching rockets or shells etc for these and others might be useful with the addition of non-nuclear payloads such as the Russian glide bombes we constantly read about in posts here or if they could carry bi thermobaric non-nuclear payloads to take the fight back to the Russians and change the direction this is going?

No I don't but:

Trump denounces Biden's decision to send cluster munitions to Ukraine

The former president's comments come a day after Mike Pence, his former vice president who is now a rival for the GOP nomination, said he backs the munitions.

I don’t know why you wouldn’t know it, you are always on the Russian war threads.

Out with the old, in with the new.

“The Defense Department had been due by 2019 to stop use of any cluster munitions with a rate of unexploded ordnance greater than 1%. But the Trump administration rolled back that policy, allowing commanders to approve use of such munitions.”

The Trump administration cancels a plan to curtail the use of cluster bombs
November 30, 2017
“The policy change, which reverses a 2008 decision by the George W. Bush administration”

“The 2008 policy would have banned the use of all cluster munitions that have an unexploded ordnance rate above 1 percent. Going forward, the U.S. military will be allowed to buy cluster bombs that don’t meet that standard, so long as they have “advanced safety features” such as self-destruct mechanisms that would kick in after they are dropped.

The Defense Department will also slow its ongoing program to decommission the current U.S. stockpile of cluster munitions until the current stockpiles can be replenished with newer, safer weapons.”

This is Called Fear Mongering...

“Putin is not going to stop at Ukraine,” President Biden said in a meeting with Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris, pledging support for the Ukrainian cause.

“All of Europe will be threatened, we are not going to let that happen,” Biden told journalists during his state visit to France.

“The United States is standing strong with Ukraine.”

It is called the analysis and rational response of dozens of nations who know Russia and Putin best and who are taking political risks, making massive budget changes, implementing drafts and preparing for drafts, some countries ending generations of neutrality and seeking NATO membership, even Austria and Switzerland are reevaluating their risks from Putin and considering seeking NATO membership.
