One neighborhood in East Oakland is so dangerous that construction workers apparently feel unsafe. A construction crew left a residential street unpaved and refused to return because the workers did not feel safe being in the neighborhood.
The situation has left Sobrante Park residents with their street torn up and reduced to gravel with gaping potholes. Resident Shari Angarano said the unfinished road work made bumpy driving conditions on Colorados Drive go from bad to worse.
“The ground is uneven and a lot of the gravel used to fill pot holes is being kicked up,” Angarano said.
The unfortunate situation began in March, when Sobrante Park residents received letters stating Colorados Drive would be repaved.
“They put signs up, did some work,” Angarano told KRON4. The street was prepped by crews for paving. “The signage on the street barriers indicated that the crew would be back on 5/15-5/16 to complete the work,” she said.
But workers abruptly left midway through the project — and never returned.
“I called and the engineer with the City of Oakland said that contractor pulled out because the crews didn’t feel safe,” Angarano said.

Blacks stop the blacktop?
Quite unlikely, because the same enforcers of the police state that can't do a THING about gangs and ferals will come down on any citizens militia like a 2 ton anvil. They will intimidate, harass, jail and even kill anyone who participates.
It's bad, really bad. Over ten years ago one of my daughters lived in Oakland, commuting to her tech job a few miles away into Emeryville, just across the border between Oakland and Berkeley. She lived in the Oakland hills in a white enclave with nice stores and restaurants. But had to drive down to MLK Blvd to get to Emeryville. As parents, we begged her to leave. The intersection where she had to stop and turn onto MLK Blvd had repeated crimes. A gov't official got carjacked there, and daughter finally called it quits and moved back across the bay. Longer commute from SF but safer. She ended up moving to Kansas, and then Texas, at another job, before returning to South SF.
Oakland is much worse now, with the criminals coming from the flatlands in East Oakland and preying on the white neighborhoods in the hills. Us parents stay away from Oakland as much as possible. It's hell in the flatlands.
