Disturbing footage shows a terrified autistic 19-year-old desperately asking cops to listen to him before he hit his head repeatedly and died in custody.
Isaiah Trammell, was taunted, belittled and threatened by nine guards as he begged for his medication at the Montgomery County Jail in Ohio in March, 2023.
In surveillance videos obtained by The Columbus Dispatch, officers are seen telling the autistic man he was 'ridiculous,' 'embarrassing' and 'acting like an a**.'
Trammell was strapped into a restraint chair twice and threatened a third time if he did not calm down.
Unable to calm himself, Trammell proceeded to bang his head on the cell door as he desperately screamed: 'Let me out'
No one listened as Trammell asked for his medications, a phone call and a blanket, according to the Dispatch.
Less than 10 hours after he arrived in jail, Trammell was being taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Trammell died three days later, with the coroner ruling it a suicide.
The young man had been banging his head repeatedly before he was booked and throughout the night.
He told police head-banging was 'the only way I know to get rid of the crazy in my head.'
Trammell's mother Brandy Abner told The Columbus Patch that Trammel had a history of banging his head as a coping mechanism.
Previously, his family had called for help and he had stared in the hospital for days.

Tragic. I’m pro police, but not when they act like this. And jail/prison guards are notoriously corrupt. Just ask Epstein...
Too many police don’t know how to handle a genuine nutcase ... their actions might have been more or less appropriate for a “sane” criminal. For handling a true-blue nutter like this poor fellow ... everything they did was completely wrong.
We used to have asylums ...
I don’t know what he was arrested for, but when he started harming himself in the cell they should have put him in restraints or a rubber room, or called in a doctor or sent him in an ambulance cuffed to the bed. Letting him bang his head for hours is just not humane.
Big bad tough cops against a defenseless autistic person but sit on their hands when buildings are set on fire and rioters rampage through the streets.
Low IQ and lack of empathy is generally a bad combination, and there may be 9 examples of that in this unfortunate story.
My wife’s grandfather was driving and had a blood sugar event. The cops assumed he was drunk and threw him in the drunk tank. His wife got there next morning and he was found unconscious on the floor.
Cops need continuous training.
Most of all ... a lot of these folks have a medication or two that helps keep them stable ... take them off it, and they go through the roof. And they know it. When they ask for it, they know what’s happening. Deliberately withholding it should be criminal.
government solutions for everything are bureaucratic, legalistic, inhuman, and “one-size-fits all,” often tending towards brutal. Its the nature of operating large organizations. The bigger it is, the worse it becomes. Its always been that way, and always will be that way.
What always surprises me is individual leftists, who claim virtuous “compassion” for themselves, always hypocritically support the “big-government solution.”
News like this fuels the “defund the police” movement.
If it was my son you can bet there would be hell to pay by these worthless pieces of garbage. Just more proof of the governmental parasite class abusing their positions of power to show how much power they have.
I am truly disgusted by the police, courts, administrative state and the politicians. I never had a great respect for our government but the longer I live the more disgusted I become with them and their better than thou attitude.
We used to have police and not goon squads.
Yes I tend to agree, since they are supposedly trained and should have experience to identify psychotic people who need meds - though I am sure there are a fair share of criminals who lie about needing strong meds too. They should listen to and check up on these inmates, but without question when an inmate starts harming themselves or others they can’t just ignore it. They have a duty to protect their prisoners from each other and themselves.
I’m going to go against the consensus. At one time this person would have been placed in a mental institution for his own safety. You can’t expect people to be mental health experts for extreme cases. We have a big problem with people who were formally institutionalized now walking the streets and committing crimes, endangering those around them, or in this case themselves.
IMO, it’s hard to fake autistic or other “acting out” mental health behavior.

You’re better off avoiding anyone with any affiliation with the government.
Perhaps forest and park rangers haven’t been corrupted yet, I hope.
We need parents and families provided more help, instead of stumbling blocks, to get mentally ill young persons involuntarily committed for mental health care.
We need more mental health facilities for court ordered inpatient care for adults with recongnized mental health problems.
We need separate jail facilities for young 1st time offenders with mental problems.
We need true reformatories for very young first time offenders, where we can hope to help them learn a trade and go out into a better life, instead of 1st-time jail-time with hardened repeat offenders, which often creates recidivism among first time offenders.
Some state reformatories once had a good success record at reducing recidivism.
From the 1980s to the 1990s as many prison facilities deteriority and crime increase, incarcaration over “reform” become nearly unanimous in a majority of correctional facilities.
Youth in dysfunctional and/or incomplete families and at risk of joining criminal society have been saved by admission to Boys Town. They have very good programs for at risk youth.
What does this article say the police or guards did?
Really, really sad and let’s be honest- if he was black they’d be burning down the country as i type
Autiostic is not the same as “nutty”.
I’m crying in anger at what was done to this young man, and I’m disgusted at the way you speak about him.
