Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused China on Sunday of helping Russia to disrupt an upcoming Swiss-organized peace conference on the war in Ukraine.

Speaking at Asia’s premier security conference, Zelenskyy said that China is pressuring other countries and their leaders not to attend the upcoming talks. He did not say which ones.

...

The Swiss had been hoping China would attend the peace conference in mid-June, but Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning signaled on Friday that that was unlikely. China has been calling for a peace conference with equal participation of all sides, including Russia, which has not been invited.

The Swiss didn't invite the Russians to the peace talks, which was pretty stupid. What's the point?

Zelensky and much of the Europe is still delusional...it because this is still a special military operation...if this was a real war...they would be begging for peace talks.

If both Russia and Ukraine are not at the peace talks, then they’re meaningless.

Did Zelensky invite Russia to these peace talks?

Exactly.

That’s like the Germans demanding a Treaty at Versaille and not inviting the Western allies.

Zelensky wants a bunch of countries’ leaders to draft a list of demands that Russia surrender …..and calling it a Peace Treaty. Even Biden isn’t going.

What peace talks? He’s rejected every one. He was in Turkey not long ago. Erdogan offered to hold peace talks there, and Zelensky flat-out rejected it. What’s he waiting for, the highest bidder to meet his price?

Well, legally, he's no longer President. His term of office ended May 21st. He's a squatter now. You'd think the RATS and Repukes here would be raising hay over it, since RATS especially, keep claiming if Trump gets back into office, he'll never leave.

Is that what the Ukrainian law says, that the President is ‘illegally in office’ ?

The law says the election can’t take place during martial law during wartime and they made no provision for the president to remain in office and just said we can’t have elections and also all of those offices affected are to be left empty while we fight that war?

How about asking the people of Ukraine whether they want to hold elections or not, instead of a handful of politicians making the decision? Zelensky and the lawmakers have bypassed the will of the people, holding them hostage, and not giving them a say in any of this. Ever hear of government by the people, for the people? The RATS do the same thing here with the blessing of the Repukes.

That would be an election, and currently that isn’t doable according to the Ukrainians, while they are under attack, large portions of the nation occupied and being destroyed, no electricity, resources, manpower etc..

The main point though is that he is still legally in office, the law against elections during martial law maintains a legal government during war.

"That would be an election, and currently that isn’t doable according to the Ukrainians..."

That's according to the Ukraine Parliament that created and passed the original martial law as part of the Constitution, not the Ukrainian people. The martial law part of the Constitution has been reformed several times over the years.

Declaring martial law gave Zelensky power to do things he wouldn't have normally been able to do, like force all national TV stations to merge into one platform, limit the right to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and freedom of movement, close all churches affiliated with Russia, thus taking away individual rights to practice their religion at a religious institution of their choice, enforce a curfew that has since been lifted, ban all men of the ages 18-60 from being able to leave the country, and suspend the activities of 11 political parties. On May 22nd, the day after Zelensky's term of office expired, Ukraine's Parliament extended martial law for another 90 days. I bet the people of Ukraine are just loving it.
