I do not believe Trump will be convicted. I believe we will have a hung jury.

Lots of speculation regarding the jury, being New Yorkers and all. But Trump has showed some level of support in New York, so I can't believe that that jury is composed fully of people who want to send him to jail.

In any trial, the prosecution puts up a narrative (supposedly supported by facts) that gives a jury confidence to find the defendant guilty. On the other side, the defense needs to raise enough doubt about the narrative and the facts to return a not guilty verdict. By most all accounts (excepting the most deranged TDS sufferers), the prosecution has severely failed, but has been propped up by a biased judge. And the defense has been solid and consistent.

It's hard to imagine a guilty verdict, but a hung jury seems possible. Would this judge allow a hung jury? He seems highly motivated to be the man who sends Trump to jail.

“Don’t get hung up on whether or not he’s ‘guilty’ of anything,” Judge Merchan instructed jurors. “Words like ‘guilty’ or ‘innocent’ or ‘evidence’ are really just for show, anyway. The important thing is that you listen to the closing arguments with an open mind and an unwavering commitment to handing down a guilty verdict. Remember, believing Trump is guilty is not important. Declaring him guilty — that’s what you’re all here for.”

I read that Bragg was going to "explain" the "crime" in his summation, which happens after the the defense's summation.

Covid gave Biden that excuse in 2020; in 2024 what is his excuse, infirmity?

But it was because of “short notice,” and can be re-filed. I’ll bet it is.

Better if they start deliberations today and immediately report back Not Guilty so they can go home and get back to their lives.

Good morning, dear pollywog.

I’m praying the same.

The fact that Briben’s campaign had to trot out the pathetic has-been DeZero tells me they are grasping. I guess I missed the memo saying Briben was being tried, in this case, as well.

Can we say Election Interference, AGAIN???

Look at you, just over a month ago you were cheering this persecution on. Now you act like you don’t support it. You are as disingenuous as the prosecution in this case. I find that disgusting.

the judge said the jury will work late ...

I get the feeling the jurists have made up their minds by them saying "Let's just get this over with already; we'll stick around late to save one miserable day." As opposed to, "No need to rush; we want every iota of information we might need."

Blanche reasoned with jury. If Trump was attempting to hide his payments why would he have those payments recorded in his IRS tax documents....good move. Folks paying taxes would get that

No way to start deliberations tonight ... Judge has tomorrow to issue his "instructions."

I don’t think Merchan would have allowed the lawyers on the jury unless he thought they were safe anti-Trump votes.
