General Hospital star Johnny Wactor, 37, is shot and killed in Los Angeles after robbery gone wrong

Johnny Wactor, a long time veteran of TV soap General Hospital, was shot and killed Saturday in a Los Angeles when he confronted thieves breaking into his car, according to TMZ. He was 37.

Wactor's mother Scarlett told TMZ that her son saw three men trying to steal the catalytic converter off of his car.

She said that her son didn't attempt to fight them or even stop them from robbing Wactor but they still shot him and got away.

Police said that paramedics got to the scene at around 3am local time and took him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspects have yet to be identified or described but there is an incident that matches the description of the killing which involved stealing a catalytic converter.

.... A while back I was working in downtown LA .... I finished about 2:30AM. When I signed out I was told that I would have a Police escort to take me to my car which was parked only about 15 to 20 yards from the back door of the building where we were working.

.... Even though it was well lit they insisted on the escort. Long story short .... an LAPD Unit pulled up to the back door, I got in and I was literally driven 20 yards to my car LOL. The officer didn't leave until I got in my car and drove away.
