The George Floyd Memorial Fund (by brother, Philonise Floyd), received more donations than any other fundraiser in GoFundMe history. It generated more than $17 million as of Dec 8, 2020. It was started for “funeral expenses,” but Floyd Mayweather, the boxer, paid for the entire funeral.

Today, I join all those who loved her and all those touched by the civil rights movement she inspired in remembering the tragedy and injustice of her death.

She changed the world.

Now, let's act in her memory.

There are baselines that underpin events and situations. There are many baselines spanning Babbit and Floyd. They were both in violation of the law, and were uncooperative. They both had a sketchy past (Floyd’s was more sketchy, but Babbit was hardly a saint). Neither of them deserved to be killed.

A FReeper stated recently “The primary cause of death in most cases where the perp is fighting/resisting detainment or arrest is the perp… No resisting, no problem.”

But if “Floyd killed himself by resisting arrest AND having a boat load of drugs in him at the time”, then following this line of reasoning Babbit is equally culpable of killing herself sans the drugs.

Or, they’re both not guilty.

Parenthetically, claiming Floyd really OD’d ignores the Nikki Sixx Effect of some people building up a ridiculous level of tolerance. It also ignores the autopsy.
