Special Counsel Jack Smith on Friday took the extraordinary step of seeking an order from the federal judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's classified documents case to bar Trump from making statements that could pose a significant risk to law enforcement.
The request follows Trump's efforts to seize on an item of recently released discovery in the case that he falsely claims shows President Biden planned to assassinate him during the search of his Mar-a-Lago club in August 2022.

“How absurd for Trump to think that just because ‘deadly force’ was authorized during the search of his home. /s”
Truthfully no one has ever shown me any document that suggested the use of deadly force. The word “Engage” is certainly no proof of that. However FBI agents with guns are always prepared to use deadly force against anyone. But short of seeing some document that claims they were specially authorized to do so then the entire claim is scandalous. A fake story made up by the conservative press and perpetrated as something true. GP was one of the first. I really don’t think that Trump started the false story, but I believe that I heard him repeating it. Some day it will go down as one of those “Shame” moments for conservatives.
Yet I do not support Jack Smith getting anything. Because he is totally corrupt. Provably so.
Throw the towel Jack.
Supposing this to be true, Mr. Smith, then why the authorization to use deadly force? Don't these elaborate precautions, supposing they were done, argue that the use of deadly force was contemplated for some other object than what was expected to arise in the course of executing the search warrant? You cannot expect anyone to believe that the FBI used a boilerplate search warrant for the unprecedented raid on an ex-President's private residence.
2. [The government asserts that President Trump's] statements create a grossly misleading impression about the intentions and conduct of federal law enforcement agents—falsely suggesting that they were complicit in a plot to assassinate him ....
The Court cannot prohibit a candidate for political office from making true statements. To rule on this motion, therefore, the Court must hold an evidentiary hearing to determine a) exactly what statements were made, and b) whether the statements were on the whole accurate. Please arrange with defense counsel for taking testimony on this subject from the FBI agents involved and their supervisors and Joseph R. Biden.
3. The governme nt asserts that statements of President Trump created a "grossly misleading impression" and "falsely suggest[ed]."
This seems an admission that the statements require innuendo in interpretation to arrive at the conclusions the government wants to assert. This is an insufficient basis to override First Amendment rights of President Trump and the interests of the public under the First Amendment to have vigorous debate on matters of public interest.
“Those deceptive and inflammatory assertions irresponsibly put a target on the backs of the FBI agents involved in this case, ”
No Jack, the FBI and DOJ put a target on Trump! Period and end of story.
Have you not seen the actual authorization that was made public? It specifically stated that deadly force was authorized. It also included triage plans in case there were casualties.
Nope. Not saying you are not correct. But no article I clicked on had anything except a document using the word “Engage”. That includes the First GP article I read.

Julie Kelly is the person to follow on this stuff. She always delivers the receipts.
Every photo I’ve seen of him he looks like a homeless guy with vacant eyes who hasn’t slept in a week.
A very scary person and how he got to such a position of authority is baffling to me.
No wonder I always hated those commercials.
A position of power…….if you notice that EVERYONE employed by government in ANY position are ALL sub standard there is NOT a one of them that has above average intellect NOT ONE!!!
The corrupt state police (FBI), a division of the even more corrupt DOJ, claims authorization to use deadly force is SOP when executing a Search Warrant. So does that mean that raiding the home of the number one political opposition is SOP? Does that mean that when D.C. elites, supported by local field office personnel, lead the raid that this is SOP. Is it SOP for the raiding party to remove identifying insignia from their clothing? Is it SOP for the illegitimate raiding party to spend more time going through the former (and soon to be next) First Lady’s under garments? Is it SOP to convoy in a dozen or more vehicles, lights flashing, at 4AM? I did fall off the turnip truck once but was able to get back on. The major purpose of the DOJ and IC is to gain intelligence on the people and use it against them when it becomes expedient to do so to benefit those in “the club”. Like George Carlin said, “ it’s a big club, and you ain’t in it”.
So let me get this straight the feds tried to assassinate trump yet he’s not allowed to talk about it
Somebody needs to gag Smith...permanently.
It was a plan that specifically mentioned engaging using deadly force if Secret Service or “FPOTUS” resisted. Yes, F-Troop was fully prepared and felt they had the right to gun down the president and his SS detail.
Tell me… why did F-Troop show up with rifles at all?
Modern Feds are pussies.
In the 60s two clean cut men in sport jackets with concealed 38s would have knocked at the door.
They were out to kill and looking for an excuse.
What agency are you with?
I can kinda see Judge Cannon putting the gag on Jack
Jackboot Smith doing Jackboot stuff again.
Have Katherine Faulders and Alexander Mallin shown any evidence that what PDJT claims is “false”?
Any evidence at all?
I wonder if Vicki Weaver would quibble with the omission of the word “only”. I know Katherine and Alexander would.
Jackboot Smith doing Jackboot stuff again.
Must be those statements like, “Back the blue”, flying at Trump rallies that are so dangerous to law enforcement.
