Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) announced Thursday he would call the GOP-controlled state Legislature into a special session next week to discuss getting both President Biden and former President Trump on the state’s fall ballot.
Democrats have been unable to certify Biden as their nominee in the state — a largely procedural issue where both parties have to certify their presidential candidate with the state ahead of the state’s deadline — because the Democratic National Convention takes place after the Ohio certification deadline.

Let the Dems get Biden on the ballot. He isn’t going to win in Ohio anyway and this may make it harder for Dems to replace Biden with another candidate later. Lock in Biden now!

Biden will get on the ballot via the legislature or the court. This saves money and may even earn Republicans a few points.

This may not be a bad move. If the presidential election isn’t contested in Ohio then there may be low REPUBLICAN turnout … in an election cycle with a key Senate race in Ohio.
Moves like these could help force the dems into going all in on Biden before their convention whether they want to or not. If they want to dump him, they may find actions like this could force them pull the trigger way earlier than they care to do.
Curious if RFK Jr makes it on the Ohio ballot and Biden does not. What the polling matchup would look like for a RFK vs Trump situation.
Maybe Biden figures he can’t win it straight off and has a better chance denying it for Trump with RFK Jr
DeWine rides to Biden’s rescue. Can anyone imagine any Democrat governor doing something like this for Trump or any other Republican presidential candidate? The GOP and establishment Republicans like DeWine are garbage - just utter crap.
Meanwhile the Democrats were actively throwing Trump off state ballots. The Dems did this to themselves in Ohio. Let them move their convention up if they want him on the ticket. Otherwise, DeWine needs to man up and play hard ball. Enough of this turning the other cheek crap.
Does anyone on this forum honestly believe that if this had occurred to the Republican candidate and the governor was democrat along with the legislature that they would allow the Republican to be on the ballot? That’s nonsense.
