"We don't put any international body above American sovereignty"
America should punish the ICC and put Karem Khan "back in his place," Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson said during a Wednesday morning news conference.
Congress is reviewing all of its options including "aggressive legislation" to impose sanctions as quickly as possible, Johnson said.
"If the ICC moves forward with its absurd warrant request, this is going to be an even bigger international problem," Johnson said.
According to Johnson the US has never endorsed the ICC because it's a "direct affront to our own sovereignty."
"We don't put any international body above American sovereignty and Israel doesn't do that either," he added.
Johnson noted the ICC never targeted or arrested Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi despite engaging in "torture and terror."
"But instead, what we see right now is the ICC has chosen to target Israel with baseless and illegitimate arrest warrants, and it's attempting to equate Israel's just war for its existence with the horrific acts of the October 7 massacre," Johnson said. "To us, this is just unconscionable."
During Wednesday's White House news briefing, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the administration is in consultation on a "bipartisan, bicameral basis with the Hill on all of the options for how to respond to what the ICC has just done."
Sullivan said the White House has not made any determinations yet.
In his testimony on Tuesday before the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Secretary of State Antony Blinken indicated he'd be open to working with Congress on bipartisan sanctions against the ICC depending on the legislation brought forward.
Any indictment by the ICC is a de facto declaration of war on Israel. The declaration is not sovereign but the personal pretension of a few who mistakenly believe they are somebody.
By declaring war, they make their personal lives and property expendable as defensive actions by the sovereign Israel.
I believe Amal Clooney, yes George’s Wife, is pursuing this including arrest warrants for Bibi. Cucking funt.
No consistency in politics.
Interesting what gets them hopping mad and what doesn’t.
How exactly does The Johnson sanction a court?
I now regret I didn’t read an article naming Amal Clooney as sideling up with some power org. Where the heck was that. I wonder?
Apparently, you read it. Another Valerie Jarrett, possibly?
There were a couple of postings here 2-3 days ago.
There should be an arrest warrant against Karem Khan for abusing his office. Can’t trust Mooselimbs with anything. /spit
Of course not.🤫
It’s curious the three highest level “staffers” left the Speaker last week. Several conservatives who had supported Mike suggested it was they who were behind the Speaker’s cave for billion$ more to the Biden administration, basically everything they wanted. But nothing for the border.
There is an upcoming vote on a WHO Treaty giving the UN agency power over our own sovereignty regarding what we all know to be orchestrated globalist pandemics.
I have my doubts that Johnson will be as firm about our own sovereignty as he is on another country’s sovereignty.
Or will the compromised fool keel on both!
Judas Johnson will be reprimanded by his handlers and reverse course within days
Purist conservative yahoos are the conservative’s worst enemy
The despicable Johnson defends a foreign leader but does nothing for the American January 6 political prisoners. The Useless GOPe con FOAD.
That being said, the Stalinist ICC should be hit with a 1000 pound guided bomb courtesy of the U.S. Navy.
How ludicrous it is to read that Bertie because all that you really care about is Saint Zelensky and the sweet, sweet taxpayer money going to the totalitarian MIC and the Uniparty vulture composed of "Democratic" Partt stalinists and sellout GOPe butt-boys.
like I said.....purist yahoos are conservatives worst enemies
Zeeper apparatchik fools that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
