House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik filed an ethics complaint against Judge Juan Merchan for an alleged conflict of interest pertaining to his daughter’s role at a firm known for representing Democratic politicians.
Merchan, an acting Supreme Court justice in New York, is presiding over the unprecedented criminal trial against former President Trump stemming from charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Stefanik, R-N.Y., filed the complaint with the New York State Commission on Judiciary Conduct, warning that Trump, who pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts of falsifying business records, faces "a maximum of 136 years’ imprisonment" if convicted, and said not only are his "interests at stake," but "the interests of all Americans are at stake."

Personally, I don’t see Trump being locked up in any way. The optics would cause a full blown revolution, IMO.
She needs to make better use of her time.
While the judge has shown a bias in his conduct that is unconstitutional, we don’t usually attribute a kid’s bias to the parent.

With maybe a couple of exceptions, Elise has more... uh... medicine, yeah that’s the word, medicine, than all the Republicans in congress together.
The NY Bar and state judiciary need to start thinking more long term. Once the level of ethics falls below a certain point, and it’s dangerously close to that point now, it could and probably will be their ox getting bored in the future. Illegal immigrant voting and vote fraud may not always be enough of a moat for them.
If true, does this mean Clarence Thomas should recuse from January 6 related issues before the Supreme Court, because his wife was involved in the Stop
the Steal movement?

It’s not bias, it’s financial incentive. This trial is generating millions of $ for judge’s daughter’s firm.
