"April Showers" sounds like it may have been inspired by the depression of 1920-1922--like Ain't We Got Fun?, Look for the Silver Lining and Second-Hand Rose.

Although "April Showers" was a hit in 1921, the recording here was not waxed that year. Judging from the sound, it was probably cut around the time of the Korean War.
