David DePape, the man convicted of breaking into the home of House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and bludgeoning her husband with a hammer was sentenced to 30 years in prison Friday by a federal judge.
DePape was convicted in November of attempting to kidnap a federal official and assaulting a federal official’s family member after a four-day trial. A jury returned a verdict after less than 10 hours of deliberation.

Whether any of us like it or not, that’s what the courts decided. I have no proof that reality is different from what is being told to us. I just suspect that with the players, the constant lying and covering up that it’s not the entire story.
30 years! If this had been done on someone who wasn’t a politician the guy probably would have got 10 years. Rand Paul was attacked by his neighbor and the guy got nothing.
Rand Paul’s attacker only got 30 days.
You made that nonsense up, look at the exchange, and you never told us what you think happened that night, what do you think happened that night?

He must have been to get past all that security. Good thing Russia or North Korea didn’t try with their assassins. If DePape got that close, think what an expert could do.

What security? Nancy and her security were not in residence at the time.
For a guy who has such strong opinions about the guy and his attack, his trial and his sentencing, you don’t seem to have even looked into it.

The neighbor actually got more than that eventually, but what does that have to do with this case?
You seem very invested in this. Not sure why. That’s okay. Like I said, fascinating.
Both were victims of beatings.
Its easy for me to want honesty, you are the mystery with your conspiracy theories and great amount of interest in posting on the thread, yet you were never interested enough to learn what happened that night and don’t seem interested in it now.
I see.
... you say that 40 years is the going rate for trying to kidnap a family member of a federal employee?...
Where did I say that? That is what the prosecutor asked for; his own attorneys asked for 25 years, so some figure he got a break, I guess.
He was not charged with simply trying to kidnap; he was charged with kidnapping and burglary for breaking and entering the house and assault in front of the cops after ignoring their instructions to put down his weapon.
If I had my way, Paul's attacker would have gotten a stiffer sentence and DePape maybe a bit less, especially since his fate is doomed in his next go-round.
Utterly fair? Who is to say? We can always talk about OJ's sentence to realize that things aren't always equitable, but that doesn't mean we can just make stuff up out of whole cloth.
Very true. I didn’t and still don’t care enough to follow it closely. I just know that sentence seemed excessive and suspect nefarious reasons why. My opinion on this has zero value. I assumed that if people disagreed, they would just say that my comment was screwy and move on. For some reason you didn’t. I still find your persistence fascinating.
Same here. We’ve seen too many times what “justice” means to the feds.
I’d like to see a side-by-side of the sentencing guidelines (based on charges) for this guy, Rand Paul’s attacker, and all the leftists who have been let go without bail in leftist jurisdictions.
I am so sick of this crap.
No more persistent than you, but I know most of what happened that night and am willing to share that information and engage anyone on the thread topic, you don’t seem to have any interest in that night, or learning anything about it, yet you persist with your nothingness posts.
I can go on for months but I will yield.
30 years? In my area, we can’t get that for a murder. But we abolished parole back in 1995 so 30 years means 30 years. I agreements on murders go for between 15 years and 25 years. But it’s typically drug dealers killing each other.
30 years?
Seems excessive.
I wonder who elese is going to reach out and tetch the Pelosi sewer worms?
I can hardly wait.
I do.
He dared to touch one of the anointed.
If it were one of us deplorable, garbage folks, he'd have been out on cashless bail in a heartbeat.
