Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) praised House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) in an interview with Politico, saying that he and the Democrat leader have “more in common than people might think.”
Johnson said about Jeffries:
I have. Hakeem is a good man. We’ve worked well together. We have a lot more in common than people might think. You know, he’s from New York and I’m from Louisiana. While we have lots of disagreements on policies and the fine points of policy, I think you can appreciate people for who they are as a person. I think that’s what we’re called to do. And he and I both kind of share the worldview on that. I can appreciate that he’s a good family man. We have a lot in common in that regard. And he lost his father recently, I lost mine three days before I got elected to Congress. We’ve talked about that.
…
And I think what we’ve appreciated about one another is that I believe that when Hakeem Jeffries is telling me something, I believe he’s telling me the truth. I believe he is a man of his word. And I think he believes that about me as well. That’s a big thing in Washington. You know, trust is a rare commodity around here. [Emphasis added]

Channeling Newt sitting with Pelosi on the sofa....
I believe you Mike!
I saw video clips on TV a few days ago of Pelosi and Jeffries:
A reporter asked Nancy if she was happy with Mike Johnson as Speaker. Her answer: ‘Yes; Mike Johnson runs the house as it should be run’. (not an exact quote, but close).
Another reporter asked Hakeem if he was looking forward to being Speaker soon. His answer: ‘It doesn’t matter; We already get every thing we want. The House Democrats may be a slim minority, but we really do run everything in reality.’ (again, maybe not an exact quote, but very close).
Yeah, no. I mean, where's your actual evidence for this "blackmail," hmm?
To my mind, this whole "blackmail" angle is just pathetic cope trotted out by conservatives who don't want to acknowledge -- especially to themselves -- that they've been played for fools for years (decades?) now by a Republican Party that is led by elites who utterly despise the party's conservative base.
Mike Johnson is what he is. No "blackmail" was required. And, hey, if this is what his constituents in LA CD-4 want in their "representative," well, that's how our "constitutional system" works, right? And if that's who the Republican caucus in the House wants as its Leader, well, what does that tell us?
What dirt do the rats 🐀 have on him?
Wow… do they both have black children? They’re both Democrats? They both hate the USA?
Really..: he said this unironically?!
I have to hand it to Johnson. He’d doing more to destroy what’s left of the GOP than Biden & Harris put together. Can you say 2024 electoral sabotage?
That's a scary statement.
Dems know when the other side is doing the toe tapping thing in department stores so who knows..Biden once said “I know ALL their secrets, he wasn’t only talking about Democrats”
Did you ever stop to consider that this rotten b@stard may be doing this on purpose; that he wants to force the few Republican conservatives in the House to try to remove him to hurt Trump’s chances in the election ... nothing else the Democrat/Communist Party is doing seems to be working ...
Mike, just hush! You sound like a useful idiot.
“We’re Pals!”
I remember when Johnson was sucking up to Jeffries during his speakership acceptance speech. It was a little troubling then, it is very troubling now.
Another sap who thinks he is being a good christian by ignoring evil. There are none so blind as those who choose not to see.
Guy’s a fag.
At this point he’s just rubbing our face in it.
what is wrong with this guy
No improvement over Mccarthy.
yep and he has a fetish for blacks it appears
Jeffries and Johnson, don’t look alike, but they think alike.
MTG was right about Johnson. Get him gone immediately, like yesterday. Why would democrats need Jeffries as speaker when Johnson is doing Jeffries’ work for them.
Kinda like Paul Ryan when he was speaker, but Johnson is worse.
MTG, why are you not working hard enough to get him out? Where are the other ‘real’ republicans?
thank you thank you, thank you. I’m so tired of the” blackmail” trope myself, Repubs are not Conservatives, they’re country club blue bloods and like you said, despise the base. the only, and I mean only time they get tough, is with conservatives in the party, because theres not enough of us in the party to fight back, they roll us every single time. They run away from Dems like scared little girls every time, too scared of confrontation, and will compromise with them always, never with the conservative members of their own party. I was a republican voter my whole life, changed my affiliation in Jan’20, can’t stand the fookers.
