VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) โ A driver is dead after attempting to enter Joint Expeditionary Base-Little Creek early Sunday morning.
According to officials, at 3:40 a.m. on April 28, a vehicle was seen attempting to enter the base through Gate 5 at a high rate of speed.
Security Personnel activated the hydraulic access control system (HACS) in an attempt to stop the vehicle after observing the driver not stopping for security. This caused the vehicle to crash into the HACS barrier and catch fire.
Crews with the installation fire department worked to extinguish the fire, and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service continues to investigate this incident.
At least it was the guilty party that paid and not any innocent bystanders.
I am going to suspect a DUI was involved .
Those HACS work like a charm, often fatally.
The stories I could tell about what I did BEFORE driving through that very gate.. whew.
Hi.
Used to stay at Ft. Story when I was TDY at Ft. Monroe.
The billets were ok, but the mess and beach were fantastic.

No need to repeat yourself.
Hey, give him a break ... at least he save the tax payers a wad by not having to pay for his lawyers to defend him and the cost of imprisoning him for years.
